Jonah Tong finishes his up-and-down year on a huge high note here in DC. Tong tossed five innings of one-run ball with a career-high nine strikeouts against the Nationals. He gave up three hits, walked one and had 19 swings and misses. Tong ends the year with a 3.82 ERA in the big leagues over seven outings (30.2 IP) at this level.

Nationals announce that tomorrow's Mets @ Nationals game at Nationals Park has been moved up from 4:05 p.m to 12:35 p.m. because of inclement weather in the forecast.

Quite an eventful first three innings tonight for Francisco Alvarez at Nats Park... In the first, he burned an ABS challenge and then swung at ball four to ground into an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded. In the second, Alvarez tried to throw behind a runner at second base and it went into CF for an error ... and then later in the frame, he threw James Wood out trying to steal to get the Mets out of a jam. In the third, there were three wild pitches with Alvarez behind the dish all before the Mets record an out. Two of them allowed a run to score with Jonathan Pintaro on the mound ... on back to back pitches.

Andy Green was asked today if it matters finishing in fourth rather than last in the division. "If it matters to a Mets fan, it matters to me, but deep down, if I think about it, there's playoffs and there's not playoffs. There's nothing we're going to do to get to that spot. So as we watch other teams celebrate inclusion in playoffs, that should leave a bitter taste in all of our mouths to get back there, and that's all I'm really concerned with. We want to finish fourth because that means we beat them, and that's what you want to do every day. I don't think we're taking a ton of pride in that. At the end of the day, the goal is to win the division, not to finish in the middle of it or not in the bottom of it."
