MwM #169 Recap: Recovery & Next Steps
This week’s MWM focused on the recent exploit, the recovery plan, and the steps being taken to move forward.
🔹Approximately 40M excess
$CACAO entered the pools during the exploit, bringing the virtual supply to 140M.
🔹Around $300K has already been recovered, and the Maya team will contribute an additional $250K from personal funds. These funds will be used to buy back and burn
$CACAO.
🔹The short-term goal is to reduce the virtual supply to 120M, followed by a continued recovery toward 100M over the next 18–36 months.
🔹Trading will remain paused while the team cleans up the chain state and prepares the next version update, expected within one to two weeks.
🔹The six vulnerabilities involved in the exploit are being patched, while new automatic safeguards are being added to strengthen protocol-level monitoring.
🔹THORChain’s Huginn AI security system is coming to Maya, alongside a new AI red team designed to continuously test the protocol and identify vulnerabilities earlier.
🔹Aztec continues to move forward with its intent-based architecture and a new collaboration with Rujira, bringing additional functionality and new fee flows to the Maya and THORChain ecosystems.
The recovery plan is underway. The focus now is on restoring the supply, strengthening security, and continuing to build.
