1. If you do not go after what you want, you’ll never have it.
2. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.
3. If you do not step forward, you will always be in the same place.

Thank you for your service, John.
You took the DA forward at a difficult moment, stepping in after the previous leader abandoned the role. Under your leadership, the party was stabilised and strengthened, becoming part of national government. You have accomplished your mission.

During the 2024 elections false claims were made that I misused municipal funds and channelled money to a partner
After a full year-long investigation the Public Protector has cleared me of all wrongdoing. All allegations were unsubstantiated, with no evidence of abuse of power.

A moment of reflection…
Sandile Mnikathi, our Deputy Mayor, is a young leader who delivers: academically accomplished, committed, and grounded in service.
Grateful to work alongside such a capable and inspiring colleague.

I can understand Minister from the DA, IFP, PA, VF, etc saying they are new. 100%. But then the ANC Ministers in failing departments saying they are new???? Your comrades, endorsed by your party, having been in charge for 30 years! You can’t use the “we’ve just taken over” line.

The upgrading of Alex Mntambo, Inkulisa and Jakalasi roads from gravel to blacktop in Ward 4 is progressing well. The contractor was busy with road treatment due to wet weather conditions, completing levels and box cutting.

The Municipality Waste Management department is currently doing a deep clean of the Howick CBD. This involves spraying disinfectant in public spaces such as ranks, side walks and shopping areas.
