Supporting Greater Manchester residents with Cladding & other Fire Safety Issues. manchester.cladiators@gmail.com

Manchester, England
Hi @andyburnham - any chance you could ask @AngelaRayner when Labour's 4th building safety minister in 2 years will be confirmed? It'd be good to know who'll be in charge of fixing this ongoing horror show. And that it won't keep being deprioritised 🫣 Much obliged, brother.

ALT Mr Bean stood in a field waiting and checking his watch.

We were on BBC Radio London this morning discussing the building safety crisis, why @UKLabour is on course to miss its remediation targets, and what the Government must do next. Missed it? Listen back 🎧

Mood in our development WhatsApp group today: @UKLabour has betrayed leaseholders and shared owners. Our blocks (600+ flats) are among the 854 blocks without a remediation plan. We still have ACM cladding. #BuildingSafetyCrisis cc @LibDems @TheGreenParty @Conservatives

"The latest figures show that the number of buildings being monitored for remediation continues to grow, while thousands of buildings remain somewhere in the remediation pipeline." The evidence shows that building safety still isn't a @UKLabour priority. 👇

Some thoughts on the Grenfell criminal process here. This week’s news is an important milestone in the process. But that’s all it is: the end of the process remains a very long way off. peteapps.substack.com/p/gren…

Shame and name. @TelfordHomes @CBRE @CBRE_UK 7% completion in fixing unsafe buildings. 9 years later. Money still matters more than the safety of people who buy their homes it seems and @mhclg @mtpennycook @AngelaRayner are happy to tolerate this? @EOCS_Official

MHCLG’s dashboard shows which developers missed the 80% target – and by how much. But there is still no clarity on what consequences they will face.

The cladding and building safety scandal ruined my life for 8 years. Its impacts will never leave me. But I’m one of the lucky ones. So many people are still living with this nightmare. How are we still failing this many people? It’s an absolute disgrace.
Government’s latest developer data confirms an abject failure. Developers promised to start or complete work on 80% of their buildings by July 2026. Their (self-reported) data shows just 53% have started or completed – and only 23% are complete. 🧵

The reality of the Cladding Crisis - nearly 2,500 tower blocks - and these are just the ones the developers are fixing themselves.

The message is clear: building more homes has been prioritised over making existing homes safe. Despite the missed targets, self-reported data and years of delay, there is still no meaningful change in @mhclg's approach. Warm words. Weak oversight. Unsafe homes.

Have the underlying assessments all been independently audited? How many decisions were overturned? Will residents see the evidence? Or will @UKLabour ministers continue to let the developers mark their own homework?

❌ Meanwhile, 854 buildings have not started remediation and still have no plan. Nor is there clarity on the buildings developers claim do not require work.

To be clear: I wasn’t asking for a briefing on social housing. I’m a constituent trapped in an unsafe, unsaleable shared-ownership home. I asked what will be done for people living this nightmare, including whether the Government will support a funded buyback route.

Sadly, this hope was misplaced. I wrote to @SamanthaDixonMP about being trapped in an unsafe, unsaleable #sharedownership flat, specifically raising buybacks and Clause 13. Her reply was a generic summary of the Bill that did not mention shared ownership or my circumstances once.
So nice to see your support Apsana. Hopefully @SamanthaDixonMP will be following up in a similar way for Chester residents trapped in unsafe and unsaleable shared ownership properties.
