I left Tehran this morning on a whim because of the internet shutdown and the very real risk of war breaking out. It’s not lost on me that I’m one of the lucky ones who had the opportunity to leave, while many are fighting on the streets with their bare hands and hopeful hearts. I have never seen an uprising like this in the history of Iran. From teenagers to grandparents, everyone is coming together for a free, prosperous Iran. Even the ones who didn’t make it to the streets were on their rooftops, chanting for hours “death to the dictator” and calling for the return of Reza Pahlavi. There is a sense of hope and belief that I have never felt amongst us Iranians, like we know it is happening this time. Meanwhile, the supreme leader is calling 92 million Iranian freedom fighters “thugs.” Last night, the Islamic Republic sent out a mass text saying people who are shooting protesters on the streets are “terrorist groups” in an attempt to deflect any responsibility or accountability for killing innocent protestors. This was the first time I experienced an internet shutdown in a country, and there are no words to describe the feelings of despair, helplessness, and fear. To have your voice cut off and be isolated from the world while your abuser is abusing you—it’s like being tortured in solitary confinement in an empty prison where no one can hear you, not even the prison guards. There are truly no words to describe the feeling. This morning, when my brother was giving me a ride to the airport, I saw the despair and hopelessness in his eyes. He said, “I don’t think anything is going to happen,” only because he’s not able to see how the world is rooting and cheering for the Iranian people. This is exactly what the government wants. Its goal is to inject hopelessness by isolating people from global solidarity. We must be louder than ever. I’m asking @elonmusk and anyone with influence: please do whatever you can to help restore internet access for the Iranian people. This is it. There is no going back this time. IRAN WILL BE FREE 💚🤍❤️

هنوز وقتی یادم میوفته که یک «رفیق» چجوری میتونه بقدری وجودش غرق سیاهی و‌کثافت شده باشه که برای دیده شدن، زخم بزنه به دل رفیقش،در عین بیخیالی، باخودم میگم دم شیطان رجیم گرم،نه بزک و‌دوزکی،نه صدای نازکی، شرف داره لامصب به خودی نمیزنه🙂 ولی عجیب #گِرده این زمین فقط‌نوبتیه،صبورباش!
