Thermal image of a Mac mini under heavy load. You can see the hot airflow.
My Mac Mini's GPU temperature at 90C running Qwen3.8 27B 24/7.

Forgot the Mac Mini had a fan until I gave it security testing to do. Now it's the loudest thing on my desk :D

Here's the contents: hot gun plus a nice carry case, metal base, a 140W USB-C charger and a cable. It auto detects when you put it on the base and stops (temperature goes down)

I am the first in my bloodline to touch a 400G switch. Will be using it to connect the current and future NVIDIA DGX Sparks.

I couldn't find one anywhere in stock! There was only a local east European shop that had 1 in stock and only shipped nationally. Had to ask a friend to order and then ship it to Berlin!

ISDT sent me their new banana output cable to test. I already prefer it to the original alligator-clip version. It protrudes much less, and saves desk space. Second pic shows them side by side.
Portable linear power supply and PD charger, with a built-in battery! It can also act as a universal battery charger. Fits in the palm!

People running local LLMs for a team: what does your cluster look like? I'm experimenting with 4 DGX Sparks, with 2 M5 Ultra Macs planned next. Has anyone scaled this kind of hardware into a larger cluster serving dozens of concurrent users?

DGX Sparks are cooking 馃敟 GLM-5.3-Flash on TensorFold, mid-benchmark:

Initial results are very promising! GLM-5.3-Flash on 2x DGX Spark with TensorFold: 85 tok/s single stream, 174 tok/s total across 8 streams (code)
What are you guys working on this weekend? I'm setting up and benchmarking GLM-5.3-Flash on 2 of my 4 DGX Sparks (and probably DeepSeek V4.1 Flash on the other pair). Once my 400G switch arrives, I'll run one model across all 4.

This is all you need to connect 2 DGX Sparks: a 400G QSFP112 cable.

Correction: you don't need a 400G, but 200G. However if you order a 400G cable like me, it would still work, but at 200G

For people who will connect two Sparks: if your direct connection doesn't reach close to 180-190 Gbps, then do this: update the Linux and firmware using apt and fwupdmgr on both machines and then reboot them. That fixed my issue (initially it was 26 Gbps, now it's 185 Gbps)

DGX Spark consumes ~25 W at idle (no model loaded). It uses USB-C Power Delivery 3.1 EPR (Extended Power Range), which supports up to 240 W (48 V, 5 A).

Amazon Prime just temporarily lowered its membership price in Germany due to a court ruling. In an economy where prices seem to only go up, this is an interesting one.

The four horsemen of local AI
Finally got 4x DGX Sparks! Will be sharing my experience building a shared inference server (also will compare it to 2x Mac Studio M5 Ultras which will be delivered in November)

It's always great when you find a useful upgrade to a tool you already use all the time. Just discovered this new Knipex Slim Knips. It has an asymmetric design made specifically for reaching into tight spaces. Side by side with the old classic model:

It's also easier to carry (thinner) because of the safety lock.
