My unsolicited advice to law students is to not be afraid to pivot. Law students are typically ambitious & have a plan. However, in law school you might develop a new passion or develop a skill you didn’t know you had. Lean into that. Don’t be married to a plan, pivoting is okay.

Update: The Florida Supreme Court dismissed Thompson's petition on September 18. There is no indication that FDOC has changed his circumstances. His legal team is now working on next steps to secure adequate medical care. His execution remains scheduled for October 13.

After 21 years of #wrongfulconviction, Sheila Denton has been exonerated! Last week, a Georgia judge signed off on the state’s decision to not retry her for a 2004 murder she did not commit. She had spent 15 years in prison before her release in April 2020. bit.ly/4xIHcZa

He is being housed on death watch--not in a hospital setting. On Tuesday, his attorneys filed an emergency all writs petition at the @flcourts asking the Court to require that he be transferred to a hospital and provided adequate medical care.

Today, I was happy to file an amicus brief in support of that petition. A huge shoutout to the @QuarlesandBrady #probono team who made this possible in 48 hours. The filings can be downloaded here: acis.flcourts.gov/portal/cou…

Thanks for having me @errollouis and for covering this important topic!
Florida leads the nation in death row executions — but is that about to change? @errollouis is joined by @MelVerdeciaEsq of @FLDeathPenalty to break it down on “The Big Deal.” specne.ws/tA8xUk

After trying to blame us for the mishap, his proposed solution: we re-record our vows. Are you kidding? I could *never* recreate the moments with Justice Pariente, like when I opened my vows with "May It Please the Court."

To any bride who has gone through something like this, I'm deeply sorry. I feel your pain, and it's not right or fair. 🩶
