I came to GenLayer to farm an airdrop. I found a family.
After getting rewarded from Initia, I was wandering around looking for the next project to grind. Then I saw
@charlieoscar002 about GenLayer.
I came in with the mindset of grinding an early project. Little did I know I was walking into a rabbit hole.
I started like every curious newbie:
What is GenLayer? How much did they raise? Who backed it? Who are the founders? Who's the community lead? Who can I ask? What are the use cases?
So many questions, and answers weren't coming easily. So I joined the weekly AMA hosted by Toni.
My first AMA, I missed the POAP mint. I didn't know it was FCFS. I sat through a full 30+ minute call and still missed it, and it hurt. That day I made up my mind: I would never miss another POAP until I got my role. From the next call on, I didn't miss one, and I kept collecting until I hit the maximum role requirement.
Back then it was AMAs on Mondays and livestreams on Thursdays. There wasn't much else going on.
Then
@stargirl_hills and I, already mutuals on the TL, came up with an idea: host Spaces.
We'd spend the week gathering info, then break it down every weekend for 30 minutes to an hour. We pitched it to
@Cryptony09 , who was the Community Lead at the time, and he gave us the go-ahead. I made a simple, catchy flyer and we posted it.
The first Space had about 35 genfrens in attendance. It felt surreal. We promised ourselves we'd keep showing up every weekend. Some few episodes down the line, Toni accepted our invite and joined us on one of our spaces, and the Space was packed with genfrens.
From there we went from just hosting to bringing on the CEO and co-founder
@kstellana ,
@raskovsky from the Genlayer Fdn,
@joaquinbressan,
@EdgarsNemse,
@AnaRegen,
@cognocracy,
@SergioSharky , and so many more guests I can't even list them all.
We hosted consistently despite busy schedules, because we loved it. We looked forward to every weekend.
Then one Friday evening, a tag dropped in the Discord
#Community-News channel:
"Spaces with Hills 'N Cupz will be holding tomorrow on X, 1pm UTC."
It was the first community-organized event ever posted in that channel, a channel reserved for important info. Hills and I got on a 40-minute call just buzzing with excitement, planning how to make the next Space even better.
Weeks later,
@RuzgarFlns DM'd us offering POAPs for hosting. POAPs were a big deal (still are), our audience tripled.
People wanted to listen, even more they would be getting poaps for attending, cos Without poaps back then, you only get the intern role, not the main role.
I doubled down:
-Made banger memes
-Wrote banger articles
-Created art
-Made the first walkthrough video about a protocol on GenLayer
-Made the first video on how to navigate the portal, back when it was complicated and confusing, unlike now.
From curious cat, to brainstorming Spaces, to getting recognized and earning POAPs, to reaching the Singularity role.
I came to farm the next 5-figure airdrop. I found something else: a community, a family, and a project building the most integral layer of the agentic commerce era we're entering, the trust and adjudication layer.
I can say boldly that I saw the vision before the noise and doubled down on my conviction.
"My prediction happened, Genlayer is all over the TL Now!"
If you're just hearing about GenLayer, you're still early to the adjudication layer of agentic commerce. Sign up on the portal with my link below, learn, create, and earn GLP. You can start as a builder, a community member, or a validator.
