The 2026 "Super El Niño" is now the worst on record, with sea temperatures rising +2.9C
The 1877–1878 El Niño is widely regarded as the worst in recorded history by human impact, with conservative estimates of sea temperature rise of +2.8C
The 1878 El Niño triggered simultaneous, multi-year droughts across India, northern China, Brazil, parts of Africa, and the United States.
The resulting famines killed more than 50 million people, roughly 3–4% of the estimated world population at the time.
It was called the Great Famine of 1876–1878 in India and the Northern Chinese Famine of 1876–1879
Just when you thought the fertilizer shortage was bad enough, now
@NOAA is predicting a "Super El Niño", the likes of which we haven't seen since 1878.
This means elevated temperatures, widespread draught, crop failures and famine over the next 2-3 years.
It can't be a coincidence the U.S. is cutting off supply chains and shutting down the Strait of Hormuz right now. China and the U.S. know what's coming.
