County Mayo have done it - after a 75 year drought Mayo have won the All Ireland Gaelic Football Championship and taken the Sam Maguire Cup. This is for every Mayo supporter all over the world, alive and dead. God Bless the Mayo team - my only regret is that I am not in Ireland.

It’s almost time for the All Ireland Gaelic Football Final at 3pm Irish time Sun July 26. Just because we all want Mayo to win doesn’t count for much on the field. Mayo have to give 100% for 70 minutes and prevent Kerry from getting into their rhythm. I am cautiously optimistic

Benjamin Franklin (portrayed by GregRobin Smith) visited us in Beaufort SC this evening. Interviewed by two local historians and answered audience questions - Franklin was witty and insightful as he helped to get the large crowd into Independence celebration mood. Happy Fourth!

In the Spring of 1777 Captain John Barry went to the Gloria Dei Church sewing circle of Betsy Ross to get flags for his new ship. He met Sarah Austin there, swept her off her feet - they married during the celebrations of the 1st Glorious Fourth anniversary - soulmates for life.

Great Father’s Day. Enjoyed World Cup match in Atlanta with my sons and young grandson where Spain beat Saudi Arabia 4-0. Great crowd of football fans enjoying themselves. This is what it is all about. Go USA !!!!!!

On my SC night walk tonight at 10pm I was greeted by a spectacular sight in the western sky per attached pics. The brightest object is Venus with Jupiter nearby and also bright. Mercury had dipped below horizon at this stage.The 2 stars above the planets are Castor and Pollux
