The
@BankofNamibia will host its 2026 Annual Symposium on 24 September 2026 under the theme:
“Namibia’s Pre-Oil Production Phase: Assessing Choices That Unlock Long-Term Economic Value.”
The symposium will examine the strategic decisions Namibia must make as it advances towards oil production and how these choices can generate sustainable economic growth and long-term national value.
Representing the
@PAU_Uganda , Mr. Alex Nyombi , Director of Development and Production, will deliver a presentation on “Oil and Gas Regulatory Frameworks: Strategies and Options for Namibia.” Drawing from Uganda's petroleum sector journey, he will share insights on regulatory frameworks, institutional development, resource governance, and local content strategies that could support Namibia's emerging oil and gas industry.
As members of the New Producers Forum, Uganda and Namibia continue to share experiences and best practices aimed at ensuring petroleum resources contribute to inclusive and sustainable development.
Since its inception in 1999, the
@BankofNamibia Annual Symposium has served as a leading platform for discussions on critical socio-economic and development issues. This year's discussions will focus on institutional readiness, legal and regulatory frameworks, local participation, skills development, and sound resource governance to ensure Namibia's oil discoveries translate into lasting national prosperity.
