EEA EFTA membership was advocated by many prominent Brexit supporters before and after 2016 but people in the middle of the road got run over.
The “EEA-option” of making the UK a near complete rule taker from Brussels has not and will not seriously be on the cards because of the issue of democratic control. Which can be exercised only in two ways — fully outside or fully inside the EU.
