Preparedness has to be driven nationally but much of it delivered locally. Today I asked the Minister how he is ensuring Local Resilience Forums are properly funded and whether he can guarantee every part of the UK has a local resilience plan.
💚 Thanks to everyone who joined this weekend's Bosmere by-election campaign!

Due to the Super El Niño, forecasters are warning of a stormier and wetter winter for the UK.
I’ve asked the Minister how she is working across government to ensure preparedness for flooding risks this winter is stepped up to keep our communities safe.
🚌 "There's not enough public transport. What I want to do as a County Council representative is make sure we do not reduce rural bus services anymore and that in fact, if possible, we start looking at better connectivity for people from our communities."
- Adria Pittock
Adria Pittock was just 151 votes short of winning Bosmere back in May. If you're in the area, you can vote for Adria in the upcoming by-election and get her across the line to beat Reform.

🏡 Local planning: enough is enough.
Recent Government planning changes risk weakening local communities’ influence over development, putting green spaces and the character of our towns and villages under greater pressure.

ALT Watercolour-style view across the Mid Suffolk countryside at sunset, with green fields, hedgerows, a village church and homes, alongside a housing development under construction. Overlaid text reads: “It is time for us to say enough is enough! Mid Suffolk has delivered more than its fair share of housing growth.” Quote attributed to Andrew Stringer, Cabinet Member for Heritage, Planning & Infrastructure at Mid Suffolk District Council.
🌿 Green councillor Andrew Stringer on the importance of protecting the gaps between our settlements:
“It’s those gaps that make the fundamental character of a rural area - places for wildlife, places for people, and places where you can just breathe.”

Wow! Parking in @MidSuffolk car parks already are pretty cheap at just £2.50 for 24 hours in most, and you can still use cash, which is rare!
But to hear some days are now going free is incredible!
This is the benefits of @TheGreenParty powered Councils!

Delighted to kick off my constituency tour, visiting village halls and pubs across Waveney Valley.
I promised to be your voice in Westminster, not Westminster’s voice in Waveney Valley. Check your local Facebook page for a stop near you!
The work Healthwatch does is vital.
I agree with the CEO of Healthwatch Norfolk, who said that ceasing the statutory functions of Healthwatch without a suitable alternative in place is to risk another major failing in patient safety.

I'm delighted that the real boss of our house, Bella, has been crowned Purr Minister of the UK.
We are a nation of animal lovers, and I am proud to play a leading role in championing animal issues in Parliament. Animal protection isn’t a side issue.
It is fundamental to the kind of country we want to be.
We have a winner! 👏 After a fur-midable face-off on the campaign trail, we can reveal that the winner of our Purr Minister competition is the magnificent Bella owned by @AdrianRamsay.
Thank you to all who took part and to all who voted. Big congratulations to Bella! 😼💙
Andrew Stringer on today's announcement from our disorganised government that the elections for a unitary council in Suffolk in May 2027 will now not be going ahead as planned.
Bacton Village Fayre has been going for over 100 years, celebrating the local community.
I was there with Green councillors Andrew Stringer and Andy Mellen, talking to fayre-goers about what we're doing in Bacton and beyond.

Really pleased to host the Floodmobile in my constituency.
Lots of people came along to talk about the problems they’ve had following flooding. I’ve taken up many cases like this.
In Parliament I am pressing for real action on flood management.
