After years of waiting, the NSE finally listed on the stock market today. And the debut was a quiet one.
Its shares opened at ₹1,800, less than 1% above the issue price of ₹1,785. Here is the full picture 👇🏻
And there is the quirk that made this listing unusual.
An exchange cannot list on itself, since it would be both the referee and a player. So NSE listed on its rivals instead, the BSE as its main home, and the smaller MSEI alongside it.
TLDR: One of India's most awaited companies is finally public. The debut was quiet, the gains came slowly through the day, and the company now ranks among the biggest exchanges in the world.
A calm start for a stock the market waited years to own.

There is a quiet power struggle happening at the very top of the Tata group. And it comes down to one simple question. Who is really in charge of Tata?
It has pulled in top lawyers, a former Chief Justice of India & the Tata family itself. Here is the whole story 👇🏻
There is a second sore point too. Whether Tata Sons should go public.
The Trusts have wanted it to stay private. But the RBI recently pushed it closer to a stock market listing. So the two camps are also split on opening up one of India's most secretive companies.
TLDR: This is really a tug of war over control of India's biggest business house. The trusts that own most of it on one side, the board that runs it on the other. The chairman's reappointment is just where they finally collided.
How it ends could shape the Tata group for years. What is the fairer view, owners or the board?
