David Cheng is an 83-year-old Asian male who was last seen at his home near the 100-Block of Meadowland Drive (near Town Center) earlier this morning. Mr. Cheng left on foot and has not yet returned. Mr. Cheng was wearing a black Adidas hat, blue flannel shirt, dark pants, and black shoes. He is 5' 7’’ tall, weighs 170, and has black hair and brown eyes. 🏛️🚓🚒 Third Grade Takes Over City Hall! Last Friday, we had some special visitors at City Hall as Spangler Elementary’s third graders stopped by to get a firsthand look at local government and public safety in action! The visit started outside, where students got an up-close look at our Armored Rescue Vehicle and a Milpitas Fire Truck. 🚓🚒 From there, it was into the City Council Chambers, where students heard directly from the Mayor, City Manager, Fire Chief, Police Chief, and Assistant Police Chief about their roles, responsibilities, and how they work together to serve the Milpitas community. Students even got to step up to the podiums and ask their own questions! 🎤🏛️ It was a great way to bring their classroom lessons to life as they learn about local government, rules and laws, community leadership, and what it means to be an engaged citizen. Of course, no field trip is complete without a final test. 📝😂 Who has the better vehicle—Police or Fire? We’re happy to report that the students passed with flying colors. **A Snapshot of Police Activity from This Weekend** On Friday, September 18, at 2:32 AM, a midnight shift officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation near S Park Victoria Dr and Yellowstone Ave. The driver, a 33-year-old Compton resident, was arrested for DUI. On Friday, September 18, at 9:49 PM, officers found a stolen vehicle near Town Center. The vehicle initially fled but officers later found the vehicle in a nearby neighborhood. As officers arrived, the driver and passenger attempted to flee on foot but were quickly taken into custody. The driver, a 30-year-old San Jose resident, was arrested and booked into jail for possession of a stolen vehicle, evading police officers, resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine and driver under the influence of drugs. The passenger, a 45-year-old San Jose resident, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. On Saturday, September 19, at 12:25 PM, the owner of a stolen vehicle called our Communications Center and reported that he was tracking his stolen vehicle to the 1100-Block of S Abel St. Our Dispatchers quickly notified our patrol team and officers immediately responded. Officers found the vehicle occupied and contacted the driver, a 34-year-old San Jose resident, who was on probation for fraud and vehicle theft. He was arrested and booked into jail for new stolen vehicle charges possession of drug paraphernalia, a probation violation, and possession of narcotics with prior convictions. Great work by everyone involved and thank you to the vehicle owner for quickly calling MPD and helping our officers find the suspect. On Sunday, September 20, at 8:01 PM, officers responded to the 250-Block of W Calaveras Bl for an auto burglary in progress. Before officers arrived, the vehicle owner and his friends confronted the suspect, a 28-year-old Modesto resident, and a physical altercation occurred. When officers arrived, the suspect attempted to assault them but was unsuccessful and immediately taken into custody. He was booked into jail for theft-related charges, battery, resisting arrest, and assault on an officer.

⚡🚲 E-Bike or E-Motorcycle? Know the Difference! 🏍️ Last Friday morning , one of our Traffic Safety Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop near Arizona Ave and Dixon Rd. The rider, a 16-year-old on their way to school, was operating an electric motorcycle without a license. The juvenile was cited for being an unlicensed driver, and the motorcycle was towed. With e-bikes and electric motorcycles becoming increasingly popular, especially among teens, it’s important for parents and young riders to understand that they aren’t all treated the same under California law. ⚡ E-BIKES • Class 1 & 2: Assisted speeds up to 20 mph • Class 3: Assisted speeds up to 28 mph; riders must be 16+ • A driver’s license, registration, and insurance are generally not required • Helmet requirements depend on the rider’s age and e-bike class 🏍️ ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLES Just because it’s electric doesn’t make it an e-bike. **A Snapshot of Police Activity from This Weekend** On Friday, September 4, at 9:57 PM, a traffic collision occurred near Landess Ave/S Park Victoria Dr. One of the involved drivers, a 33-year-old from Burlingame, displayed signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and booked into jail for DUI. On Saturday, September 5, at 4:59 AM, officers responded to the 1800-Block of S Milpitas Bl for a suspicious person riding a bicycle on the property and entering the mailroom. The person was not a resident at the complex. Officers quickly found the 35-year-old from San Jose who had over $300k in outstanding felony warrants for burglary and theft. He was arrested and booked into jail for his warrants, possession of paraphernalia, providing a false name to police officers, loitering and misappropriation of lost property. On Saturday, September 5, at 6:40 PM, a swing shift officer contacted a 36-year-old Milpitas resident near the 800-Block of Russell Ln. The suspect had a $40,000 felony warrant for burglary and theft with prior convictions. He was arrested and booked into jail for his warrant. On Saturday, September 5, at 9:52 PM, an officer conducted a traffic stop near westbound 237/Zanker Rd. The driver, a 37-year-old San Jose resident, displayed signs and symptoms of being under the influence. She was arrested and booked into jail for DUI. On Saturday, September 5, at 11:40 PM, officers responded to a solo vehicle crash near N Park Victoria Dr/Jacklin Rd. The vehicle was unoccupied and the driver, a 33-year-old Milpitas resident, was found nearby. He was arrested and booked into jail for DUI. On Sunday, September 6, at 5:15 AM, a midnight shift officer stopped a vehicle for traffic violations near the 1200-Block of Cadillac Ct. The driver, a 37-year-old San Jose resident, displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and booked into jail for DUI, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. On Monday, September 7, at 10:34 AM, a dayshift officer contacted a 39-year-old Milpitas resident near the 20-Block of S Park Victoria Dr. He was arrested and booked into jail for an outstanding felony warrant for violating the terms of his probation. On Monday, September 7, at 5:21 PM, officers contacted a 47-year-old San Jose resident, near the 1500-Block of Oakland Rd. He had multiple warrants including vandalism, drug related offenses and carjacking that totaled over $60,000. He was arrested and booked into jail.

The driver, a 41-year-old San Jose resident, had an open container of alcohol and displayed symptoms of being under the influence. He was arrested and booked into jail for DUI and other traffic related offenses. On Saturday, August 29, at 2:43 AM midnight shift officers located a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road at Dempsey Rd and Yosemite Dr. The 46-year-old Milpitas resident was arrested after displaying signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. On Saturday, August 29 at 3:48 AM, a midnight shift officer conducted a traffic stop at the 1500-Block of California Cir, for a vehicle that was swerving across the road. The driver, a 34-year-old San Jose resident, was arrested for DUI and other traffic related offenses. On Saturday, August 29, at 12:54 PM, day shift officers investigated a robbery from a store after the suspect threatened employees at the 600-Block of E Calaveras Bl. The suspect fled prior to MPD arrival. Five hours later, the same suspect returned wearing the products he stole. The suspect, a 67-year-old Oakland resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery and a parole violation. On Sunday, August 30, at 10:04 AM, officers responded to the 700-Block of S Abel St for a package theft that just occurred. The suspect, a 39-year-old Milpitas resident, was located nearby on the railroad tracks. He was arrested and booked into jail for grand theft, resisting arrest and trespassing on railroad property. On Sunday, August 30, at 5:04 PM, swing shift officers responded to the 700-Block of Alder Dr for a vehicle stuck on the center median. The driver, a 28-year-old San Jose resident, displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and attempted to spit on officers. She was arrested and booked into jail for DUI, resisting arrest and assault on an officer. Remember, with Labor Day weekend approaching, please celebrate responsibly. On Friday, August 28, at 12:01 P.M., Milpitas Police officers responded to 440 Dixon Landing Road after receiving reports of a hit-and-run traffic collision in the parking lot of the Mill Creek Apartments. Witnesses reported seeing a blue SUV leaving the area immediately following the incident.   When officers arrived, they found a female victim who had sustained significant injuries as a result of the collision. Unfortunately, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.   Officers quickly searched the surrounding area and found a blue SUV matching the description in a nearby parking lot. The vehicle had significant damage consistent with being involved in a collision. The driver, a 32-year-old Milpitas resident, was arrested in connection with the incident.   This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Last Wednesday, our officers had a wonderful time visiting Hands on Learning Center and spending the day with some of our youngest community members! 🧒👧 The kids learned when to call 9-1-1, what police officers do, and even got an up-close tour of our police vehicles. 🚔 For many children, meeting a police officer for the first time can be an exciting experience. Visits like these give our officers an opportunity to build positive relationships, answer questions, and show kids that they can always look to their local officers as people who are here to help. Last Thursday, officers responded to the 300-Block of Turquoise Street after receiving reports that a subject had pointed a firearm at several people during a disturbance. The suspect was a family member of the victim’s ex-boyfriend. Patrol officers quickly responded, secured the scene, and worked alongside detectives to identify the suspect. Through their investigation, detectives quickly obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, a 22-year-old Sunnyvale resident, as well as a search warrant for the involved residence. Shortly after obtaining the warrants, detectives saw the suspect leaving in a vehicle and safely took him into custody during the traffic stop. Officers also recovered what appeared to be a loaded firearm from the suspect’s vehicle, which was later determined to be a replica. A search of the suspect’s residence also uncovered a replica Glock-style handgun. Because replica firearms are often virtually indistinguishable from real firearms, officers must treat these situations as though the weapon is real to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Thanks to the quick response by Patrol Officers and the follow-up work of our Detectives, the suspect was safely taken into custody before anyone was injured and booked into the Santa Clara County jail on felony assault charges and brandishing a firearm.
