I know I've been talking a lot about act 3 and 4 while the official trailer is not even out. It's coming, I've had lots of delays, mostly from the audio side of things.

Started storyboarding shots for act 4 of Pandemonium, and it looks like I'll have to build a full set for a single shot again. Hopefully I can find a use for it in a later project.

The production has been interesting, it was originally gonna be two acts, but then both acts were split in two. I still treated act 1 and 2 as a whole, but act 3 and 4 are two completely different beasts.

Oh we're actually getting a proper explorable Midgar map. In Remake and Rebirth, the city was pretty much just tiny walkable areas with a cube map of the city behind it.

It was a smart decision to restrict Remake to only the Midgar section, but it does feel rather weird to think you can only play the first part of the story on the PS4, since the scope of the game expanded beyond the rendering capabilities of the console.

So we're now at 173 rendered shots for Pandemonium. I think I have finally cleared a roadblock for act 4, turns out the answer I was looking for was right in front of my face this whole time.

I thought I'd get more done during the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Turns out I slept a lot more than expected. I should have updates on Pandemonium soon, I'm still tinkering with act 1 while animating act 3.

I'm still tinkering with act 1 in part because I want a consistent experience across all four acts, but also because there's elements missing that are outside of my control right now.

Oh, I was asked, and I suppose I should clarify. I completed my work on the movie before I jumped on SpongeBob, not after. I usually work as a CG generalist but for this production I was specifically working on building sets.

So I've had mouse buttons fail on my computer mice before, but it's the first time that the middle button is the one failing first. I didn't realize how much I use it until it started to fail.

So I bought tickets to the Vintage Computer Festival in Montreal next month. Turns out I have an old personal organizer I could use to organize my con schedule. I don't know how old it is, but I had one like that when I was a kid.

It's not the most intuitive thing to use, there's a shift button, but it doesn't switch letters to uppercase, for that you need the separate caps lock button, which you reach with shift+Z. There's a shift lock, which has nothing to do with caps lock.

One thing I really liked as a kid was to look at LCDs at an angle, to see the hidden segments and wonder what other features were hidden in there. Of course, there was usually a manual, but there was a nice sense of mystery in there.
