❤️🇺🇸 R.E.D. FRIDAY — Remember Everyone Deployed 🇺🇸❤️ Today, we wear red. Not because it’s just another Friday tradition, but because somewhere today, someone we may never meet is far from home. Missing birthdays. Missing bedtime routines. Missing Sunday dinners and ordinary moments most of us barely think about. And somewhere, a family is watching the calendar and praying for the day their loved one comes home. So today, we pause and Remember Everyone Deployed. We may not know their names. We may not know where they are serving. But God does. He sees every mile between them and home. He sees the ones standing watch. He sees the spouses carrying extra responsibilities. He sees the children missing Mom or Dad. And He hears every prayer whispered across the distance. So until they all come home, we remember. We pray. And we wear red. ❤️ Prayer: Lord, today we lift up every man and woman serving far from home. Surround them with Your protection, give them courage when they are weary, peace when they are anxious, and remind them that they are not forgotten. Comfort the families waiting at home. CPT Antonio Mavroudis, 327th Infantry, 101st Airborne Brigade looks for enemy targets from an observation post on a mountain top. The company was participating in Operation “Wheeler” in the Tam Ky area. CPT Mavroudis was killed in action 28 October 1967.

UPDATE as of 11am: she still hasn't been found. Dogs, drones, helicopters and hundreds on foot searching. Sadly, they are starting to believe she didn't go into the woods and instead went down the very long driveway to the main road, where who knows what happened... 😔

Patrick John McGuire was only 19 years old when he was killed in Vietnam on September 25, 1967. Born June 27, 1948, Patrick came from Verplanck, New York. He served as a Private First Class in the United States Marine Corps. He had turned 19 less than three months before his death. Old enough to be sent halfway around the world as a Marine, but young enough that almost everything we normally associate with a man’s life should still have been ahead of him. #TheVietnamWar #USMC #VietnamVeterans

A tragedy has struck my family. My daughter was still born, after an emergency c-section. My wife almost lost her life. Please pray for the two of us during this difficult time.

He crawled up a fortified hill alone, into three enemy machine gun bunkers, and destroyed them one by one with grenades while being torn apart by fire. He survived it, riddled with wounds. And then his country made him wait almost sixty years for the medal he had earned that day. Woodrow Wilson Keeble was a member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Dakota, a full-blooded Sioux from the Dakotas, and by 1951 he was already a legend among the men who served with him. He was a big, powerful, calm man who had fought across the Pacific in World War Two and then come back for Korea, a warrior in the truest sense, eventually decorated with multiple Silver Stars, Bronze Stars, and Purple Hearts across the two wars. On October 20, 1951, his company was ordered to take a steep, rocky, heavily fortified hill, and the attack fell apart when every single officer in the company was killed or wounded. With the leadership gone and the assault stalled under fire from three enemy machine gun bunkers, Keeble, a master sergeant, simply took charge of the whole effort and decided to break the hill himself. He crawled forward alone, up the fire swept slope, toward the bunkers that were pinning everyone down. One by one he worked his way up to them and destroyed them with grenades, close enough to throw accurately, exposed the entire time. And the enemy hammered him for it. By the accounts of the men who saw him, Keeble was hit again and again, his body eventually carrying scores of grenade fragments and bullet wounds. He kept going anyway, knocking out the bunkers and directing fire into the enemy trenches, until the hill was broken open and his company could finally take it. And Woodrow Keeble lived. He came home. He should have received the Medal of Honor immediately, and his fellow soldiers put him in for it. But the nomination paperwork was lost. It was resubmitted, and lost again. Bureaucracy, and, many believe, the era's indifference to a Native American soldier, buried his recognition for decades. Keeble lived the rest of his life, suffered strokes that took his speech, and died in 1982 without ever receiving the medal. His family and his community would not let it go. And finally, in 2008, President George W. Bush presented the Medal of Honor for Woodrow Keeble, accepted on his behalf by his family, making him the first full-blooded Sioux ever to receive it. Nearly sixty years after he crawled up that hill alone, the warrior from the Dakota nation was given the honor he had earned, at long, long last.

A Catholic priest, Fr. Stanisław Zbojnowicz, was killed in Poland after being sta*bbed while reportedly trying to close the church during confession. He was seriously wounded and later died in hospital.

On November 20, 2015, Islamist militants stormed the Radisson Blu Hotel in Mali, taking roughly 170 hostages and killing 20 people. Kyle Morgan, a Delta Force operator then serving as a special operations advisor at the US Embassy, received word of the attack and of Americans trapped inside. He moved toward the hotel, linked up with a small group of US personnel, and helped enter the building under fire, smoke, and grenade blasts to locate and extract hostages floor by floor. Morgan later described kicking through doors into a smoke-filled conference room to pull out a man who was barely hanging on, then fighting through a stairwell contact where he came face-to-face with the attackers. He stayed until he accounted for the last American he was looking for. For his actions that day he received the Distinguished Service Cross, the Army’s second-highest award for valor. He has said it was the longest day of his life and the reason he was there. The years after Mali brought a different fight: concussions, PTSD, addiction, and a near-fatal overdose. Morgan has been open that the hardest rescue was his own. He credits faith and sobriety with rebuilding his family and now leads Blu Bearing Solutions, teaching a protector mindset to law enforcement and civilians.
