I will always be willing to give back what I have been given and I am grateful for the time I have enjoyed it.
Thank you, football. And to all who accompanied me and made me a better player and person along the way.
See you soon,
Thiago.
It reminds me of a cricket fast bowler who comes steaming into the crease for years but then his bowling technique means his body eventually pays for it in the end. The beauty of Thiago’s passing technique where so much of the passing action comes from his hip rotating whilst facing in another direction and deceiving his opponents, came at a cost to the health of his hip joint.
The talent he was blessed with and his Brazilian & Spanish backgrounds resulted in a footballer who both had the flair/imagination of a Brazilian technician innovating with all kinds of different passes and of course the famous Thiago turn as well as having the metronomic passing efficiency/vision of a top Spanish midfielder, piercing the tightest gaps to break through multiple opposition defensive lines. His La Masia education engrained him with the knowledge to control any football match. The Brazilian heritage in him also meant he never shied away from putting his foot in and doing the dirty work in midfield as he even held down a DM spot in Bayern’s sextuple winning campaign. His underrated aerial prowess
One of the most naturally talented midfielders ever and one of the most enjoyable players to watch whenever he was on the pitch. Go well legend, you have etched your place in history. @Thiago6.
Trent Alexander-Arnold wins it for England from the spot. Nerves of steel. Often unjustly criticized and undervalued in this competition but showed his true class.
