@DominiqueReill is signing off from manning the Twitter feed this week and gives the wheel to @steven_seegel. All my best to all from beautiful Athens! And keep posting + tagging us, faculty, to share info on your great students’ work this term!
John Merriman has left us. An excellent historian; a man who LOVED France; the best textbook writer out there for 19th c Western Europe. Share how he helped your work? Your career? What book of his you liked the most? history.yale.edu/people/john…
Just got off plane and see that no profs are promoting students and tagging us. Profs! Tell us about your amazing students’ projects, who cares if they are MAing or PHDing. To start things off: Theofora! Tell me about 1 (or many) of your students! @theodora_dragos
I think we should spend this week celebrating all our new MAs and PhDs. Advisors! Post a little blurb of your students with a pic and tag us @ModEuroHistColl ! It’s time to celebrate all the new work being done. Castor-the-domineering-cat DEMANDS it.
It’s @DominiqueReill + I’m handling the @ModEuroHistColl Twitter account this week. On my way to Athens today to attend @ContEuroHistory’s board meeting and participate in all sorts of great conferencing. So: send me stuff you want promoted! Castor and Klytemnestra demand it!
@DominiqueReill is handing over the Modern European History Collective Twitter feed to friend + colleague @steven_seegel. This was tough to do in the middle of a European war. Please let’s all support Steven by tagging what you would like shared. He’s already doing too much.
It’s @DominiqueReill’s week to man the Modern European History Collective feed. Doing Twitter on European history during a European war + refugee crisis is heavy stuff. My cat has doubts. I’ll limit tweets to making + teaching history, but know my home fears for our present.
Seeing the Canadian anti-trucker counter-protest spring up on Sunday out of neighbourhood FB dog park groups, it is time for "favourite protest movements of yore."
Hello fellow historians, it is @JenniferVEvans at the keyboard this week, stealing a page from @irgarner to kick things off. What are you reading this weekend followers? For me, it is the english translation of Eure Heimat ist unser Albtraum: transit.berkeley.edu/
Three weeks from today! Join our conversation with @kira_thurman about her fantastic new book - transnational history, the Black Atlantic, musicology! See flyer for discount code through @cornellpress.
@DominiqueReill gives over @ModEuroHistColl Twitter to @steven_seegel. It’s been a tough week. Began with deceased Peter Reill’s birthday. Then went straight into Tyler Stovall’s death, then bell hooks. I end thinking positively: Gaby Faundez got her PhD today. That felt good
Colleagues who work on the History of East Central or Southeastern Europe (or both) since 1880:

Just registered for today’s discussion about Tyler Stovall’s importance in the field. Join us! 3pm EST. Free registration. Go here: eventbrite.com/e/frenchpress…
Tyler Stovall wrote books that changed what Europe is and what race means. He also taught, mentored, supported, administrated to create opportunities. @AHAhistorians president, Dean @FordhamNYC + @ucsantacruz, prof so many places. Former students: share your stories here!
1st thing Modern European History Collective did was ask Tyler Stovall to talk with us about his new book, “White Freedom.” He graciously agreed, juggling talking with a group of bleeding hearts with NPR, NYTimes, etc. Stovall made time for people. We are devastated by his loss
@DominiqueReill is on MEHC Twitter this week. Today in 1938 my father, Peter Reill, was born. My dad died 2 years ago. To honor him, today I’m off social media (which he hated). But I hope you can share remembering this great historian with me. His obit: 4926a784-5268-412f-b7ac-dea9…

It’s time for @DominiqueReill to sign off from manning the MEHC Twitter feed. Klytemnestra and Castor hope @AndyDenningHist is as lucky as Dominique to have 4-pawed companions while spreading history news. They keep it real.
MEHC comrade-in-arms needs someone to fill in the rest of the week, so you’re stuck with @DominiqueReill manning the feed. As always, I’ll try to make this my only kitty pic.

This fall @DominiqueReill is teaching an undergrad survey course @UMiamiHistory on "Europe after Hitler," with 3 books assigned + 9 movies. Her favorite to teach? Gender, state, and consumerism in De Sica's "Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow." What/where are you teaching this fall?
It’s Dominique Reill and I will be taking over the Modern European History Collective Feed this week. Hopefully this will be my only cat pic. In light of the semester that is about to start: I’d love to share info this week about what new colleagues are teaching + where. Share?
