Literally all Indie music, post REM, is influenced by REM. Nirvana, Radiohead, Pulp, The National, Wilco and Pavement to name but a few. Zero cultural footprint - wait till WW3 starts and you hear Its The End of The World As We Know It on loop!
REM is a band who was one of the biggest acts on earth at one point, but now has zero cultural footprint.
