You can absolutely disagree with a school rule, and even form a committee to change it and be a great parent. BUT if you deliberately refuse to have your child comply with a rule you disagree with, then you are a crappy parent.

Kids' school has a very strict policy of not sending your children to school with a fever or stomach problems. They also have a very strict policy requiring doctor's notes for all absences. I called them up and told them I wouldn't comply with the 2nd policy and not to bother me.
