Everything about that hit on Dante Moore was awful. Blatant targeting by Desmon Stephens, who knocked out Moore cold, ran around celebrating (nearly causing a brawl) and was still smiling on the sideline minutes later with Moore still on the ground. It's Dylan Raiola time.

Fun fact: Noah Ferguson threw 70-poo as a sophomore. When I let him know he’d be joining varsity for our spring break trip in 2017, he was ELATED. He went on to a career 2.50 ERA in HS, at one point throwing five consecutive CG shutouts. Helped us to back-to-back semifinals. Then D3 at @PLUBaseball. Then 96mph. Then @BeaverBaseball. And now he’s a badass trainer in Driveline’s Florida hub. Stud. Defined.

Great move!! I've always argued that high schools should do this, and I've had control at a few places where we DID do this. You want 40 kids at a basketball game that costs kids $5 to go to, so you make $200 as a school? OR, do you want 80 kids there for a much better environment??? Seriously. Admin should consider this at a lot of places. I argue having a lot of kids at your events is more important than the little income the kids bring. Make your money off of corporate sponsorships and food at the games. Pack the gyms and stands for the environment on your athletic culture.

What’s the baseball coaching equivalent of going for it on 4th and 9?

I am very much not mechanically inclined. But I removed a mower deck, replaced all the spindles and blades, greased it, and put it all back together today. And I feel like a freaking superhero. I’m gonna chase this high for a while. Might do it again on our baseball mower.

So if you play on a losing team, you’re just barred from posting your own highlights? Not allowed to help yourself get recruited (but definitely allowed to pay for a recruiting service, I’m guessing 😂). That’s a wild take.

And when a player has this, it’s sometimes very difficult for him to be around a teammate who doesn’t.

Did anyone else grow up being kinda scared of short hops? 😂 The phrasing itself always made it seem bad, like “you don’t want to make it a short hop.” All lies!

One of the highest tier things you can do to improve as a coach is to treat practice like it’s your classroom. Many of the best teaching strategies are also the best coaching strategies.

Almost two decades ago, a team in Oregon won the state title despite not having any heralded arms. When asked about how all those seemingly avg pitchers did it, the coach said, “We just taught them all to throw cutters and 2-seamers. No 4-seamers allowed.”

Nothing special here. Just thinking about how much I can’t wait to get fall workouts started up. Really focusing on building systems this year to continue making workouts as efficient as possible.

Hard to put into words how much stuff we deleted today in our huge barn reorganization. It’s also hard for pictures to show it. But the change was crazy. Big thanks to our coaches - current and former - who showed up to help!

🤣🤣 I know of a kid who played JV all spring. After the JV season ended, the Varsity team had a couple games left, and the HC called the kid up to play. The kid declined.
