Lo-fi psych-pop legends the Olivia Tremor Control were a driving force in Athens, GA’s Elephant 6 collective in the ‘90s, and they released two cult-beloved albums before breaking up shortly after 1999’s ‘Black Foliage: Animation Music Volume One.’
Eventually, they played some reunion tours, but co-leaders Bill Doss and Will Cullen Hart have since passed away — Doss in 2012, Hart in 2024. Now their bandmates have announced one final double album that’s been taking shape for decades.
Working from notes Hart left behind, the surviving OTC members got together with fellow E6ers and producers Derek Almstead, Jason NeSmith, and Ron Kwasma to finish ‘The Same Place.’
Two new Olivia Tremor Control songs, “The Same Place” and “Garden Of Light,” were released on the day Hart died, and both appear on the 27-track album. It’s out 10/23 via the Elephant 6 Recording Company. 🍂
