Following the citizen assembly, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to @GatsiboDistrict. The Mayor, Gasana Richard, commended civil society’s contribution to local governance and socio-economic development, highlighting their support to JADF and facilitation of citizen assemblies.
He also underscored how citizen priorities gathered through these assemblies inform local planning and budgeting, while appreciating development partners for their continued support to local government development.

Citizens raised their priorities and concerns to sector leaders to inform planning and budgeting and demanded accountability on previous priorities that still pend action. Sector leaders reassured citizens about ongoing programs to expand access to water points, electricity, construction of more schools and equipping health posts. They also promised to advocate for the resolution of other issues at the district and central government levels.
The visit was an insightful experience for partners to observe progress in citizen-centered governance and improved accountability at the local level.

Youth in Nyabihu shares challenges that affect youth opportunities in their community:
- Not enough information
- Lack of capital
- Negative attitudes toward some jobs
- Little to no work experience
But should that stop them from starting to think and create opportunities for themselves?
Participants believe that to contribute to Rwanda’s Vision 2050, young people must stop waiting for government jobs and start creating opportunities. They NYC secretary shared: "We can think about service delivery opportunities such as Irembo, Bank of Kigali (BK), or Mobile Money (MoMo) agents, establish small businesses, and join savings groups to mobilize start-up capital."
