🌾🐑🇬🇧This BACK BRITISH FARMING DAY, our farmers and growers expect actions, not empty words and promises from government. This year’s drought has again shown how fragile our food and farming sector is. Yields are down. Wildfires have been widespread and the Bluetongue virus has hit our livestock farmers hard. We are ever indebted to our farmers - but they need government to be on their side. Food security and water security must be taken more seriously by Ministers. Not just words, or headlines politics, but action and implementation. The government must stop hammering our food and farming businesses with tax hikes. They must axe the fertiliser tax, family farm tax and support the next generation. The Conservatives will do this. Food security and water security are central to our plans.
