Happy Independence Day, Nigeria. Today is more than just another October 1st. It is a reminder of where we come from, the sacrifices that built our nation, the strength of our people, and the hope that continues to live in every Nigerian at home and across the world. For those of us in the UK, Nigeria is still home in so many ways. It is in our food, our music, our humour, our resilience, our language, our friendships, our families, and the way we continue to find each other wherever we go. No matter how far away we are, there is something about being Nigerian that stays with us. Our story has not always been easy. There are moments that make us proud, moments that frustrate us, and moments that make us question so much. But through it all, Nigerians continue to create, build, survive, dream and succeed in every corner of the world. Today, we celebrate not just a country, but the people. We celebrate the Nigerians working hard every day. The parents making sacrifices for their families. The students chasing their dreams. The entrepreneurs building something from nothing. The professionals representing us with excellence. The creatives taking Nigerian culture around the world. And every single person doing their best to make life better for themselves and for others. Here at NIUK, we are reminded every day of how powerful community can be. We may come from different states, cultures, tribes, religions and backgrounds, but there is so much more that connects us than separates us. Our hope is that we continue to build a Nigerian community in the UK where people feel seen, supported, connected and proud of where they come from. May we never lose the spirit of looking out for one another. May we continue to open doors for those coming behind us, celebrate each other’s wins, show up when it matters, and build something our community can genuinely be proud of. Nigeria’s story is still being written, and every one of us has a part in it. To every Nigerian at home and in the diaspora, Happy Independence Day. May the years ahead bring us more peace, progress, unity, opportunity and reasons to be proud. And to our NIUK family, thank you for continuing to keep this community alive. The journey continues, and we truly believe the best is still ahead. Happy Independence Day, Nigeria. πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬β€οΈ Connect. Support. Win.

That’s why salaries in London are generally higher than in many other UK cities. The cost of living is higher, so wages often reflect that to some extent too. So if you’re comparing life in Nigeria with life in the UK, you can’t just pick London house prices and stop there. You have to look at the full picture income, rent, transport, healthcare, infrastructure, opportunities, public services and purchasing power. Even within the UK, London is its own market. A salary in London is not the same as a salary in Leicester, Manchester or Birmingham.
Replying to @Wizarab10
Why don't you use London as your study when analysing bill, let's see how much is left after your rent alone

Gross monthly minimum earnings in the UK based on a 40 hour wage equates to Β£2,203 or Β£2,065 based on 37.5 hourly wage calculation. You'll pay tax, council tax, rent, water, electricity, gas, food, internet, and whatever monthly deduction applicable. You'll not be rich, but ypu can pay your bills. You can pay your rent and you can eat well. Gross monthly earning in Nigeria is N70k. That amounts to N840k per annum. Self-contain apartment in Surulere is over a million naira. We are swimming in gross poverty. This is not life. You have any more comparative topic you like me to talk about?
Cool, how about you talk about how bills are paid monthly in the UK unlike in Nigeria.

The amount of revenue Nigerians bring into the UK is actually not a joke at all. Look at our artists, churches, events, parties, everything. Once Nigerians gather in one city, that city will feel it. Hotels, restaurants, Uber, trains, petrol, food, drinks, everything starts moving. Yesterday Pastor Jerry pulled over 50k people to Manchester. Just imagine the amount of money that entered that city in one day alone. And our artists are always coming to the UK too, Burna Boy, Davido, Rema, Asake, Olamide, Adekunle Gold and so many more. Some do massive concerts, some do club tours from city to city, but either way people are spending money and businesses are benefiting. We have the numbers. We have the resources. We have the influence. What we really need is that strong community spirit, the way you see with some Asian communities. Once we start supporting each other properly and moving as one, e go loud. Kudos to us sha. We are doing well. πŸ’šπŸ‡³πŸ‡¬

Ha, why are they doing this to people. This is not fair.
If it doesn’t stress you, how will you know it’s Nigerian? I’m currently at the Manchester centre. They locked people outside in the cold. Men, women, children. Mostly those who traveled hours to be here. What’s the purpose of the intervention if you can’t attend…..
