After a great day in Buffalo to kick off Decisions, trial lawyers gathered in Brooklyn for Decisions New York City. Today brought together members of the trial bar for another day of practical insights, thoughtful discussion, and perspectives from experienced attorneys on the issues they encounter every day in practice.

It was a privilege and an honor to be recognized by @NYSTLA last week and to swear in the organization's 59th cohort of officers.

On 9/11, as New Yorkers fled north, construction workers commandeered a city bus and headed downtown to help. Mike McGuire reflects on labor’s extraordinary response, NYSTLA’s work alongside labor in the years that followed and the fight for the Zadroga Act.

After 9/11, nearly 1,100 trial lawyers volunteered almost 900,000 hours of free legal work for 1,745 individuals and families. As NYSTLA Past President Hugh Campbell recalls, when flights were grounded, corporate lobbyists seeking to shield companies from accountability could still get to Washington on private jets. The victims had trial lawyers fighting for them. 25 years later, we are still fighting for New York’s families.

This Labor Day, NYSTLA remembers the workers who have been injured or killed on the job and stands with those who do New York’s most dangerous work every day.
