sounds like the endgame for BTC privacy. Still: 🧵 1/ Storage is still brutal. Down from 300TB to ~8TB in a year (real progress), but a normal Bitcoin node runs on ~600GB. Target is 100GB. Not there yet — not close.

2/ The crypto is unproven. Witness encryption is "pretty experimental" by the team's own admission. They're running open bounties inviting researchers to break small instances. That's not FUD, that's the builders being honest.

3/ Fees are 4x heavier. Each shielded tx runs ~700 vbytes vs 100-200 for a normal one. Privacy isn't free — miners get paid more to include your shielded coins. Cool cryptography. Real research. Nowhere near mainnet-ready.
