After 3 weeks sitting in a sea kayak, it felt good to be using my legs. The trail was flat at first, winding through the forest outside of Haines, Alaska, a place we found ourselves after teaching a course in rainforest ecology and public lands policy. 1/

Pet peeve: people saying how great a tv show is after it jumped the shark. Proving they have no clue what made it great when it *was* great.

Black athletes deserve our support beyond the wins... especially when their health is at stake. 2024 #EBONYPower100 Leaders in Sports honoree @JalenHurts will miss the season due to blood clots, but there's encouraging news... he's stable and expected to fully recover. We're sending Jalen love and wishing him a healthy recovery. 🖤 Tap for more on his condition and what's ahead: bit.ly/4sfcndn

The NFL and the Philadelphia Eagles almost killed Jalen Hurts for a Week 5 international showcase. The full details of what happened behind closed doors in London just surfaced, and the negligence is staggering. Before kickoff in London, Hurts was in a hospital bed until 4:00 AM undergoing emergency vascular testing. Medical staff instructed him not to sleep because sleep was considered an active health risk. Instead of shutting down their $255 million franchise quarterback, the team cleared him to play 60 minutes of brutal, high-impact collision football on zero sleep. Then, they loaded him onto a pressurized, 8-hour transatlantic flight back to Philadelphia. Every doctor on the planet knows that long-haul flights and cabin pressure are the exact triggers that cause lower-extremity blood clots to break free. The Eagles spent days assuring the public it was just a "minor, superficial calf clot". Now the truth comes out: the clot dislodged, shot through his bloodstream, and caused multiple pulmonary emboli in his lungs. Hurts is officially out for the season, placed on blood thinners where taking a single routine tackle could cause a fatal internal hemorrhage. He isn't just lucky to play football again, he is lucky to be alive. When the NFL preaches "player safety," remember this moment. They ran a human being into the ground for television ratings in the UK, almost lost him to a preventable medical catastrophe, and cratered their entire season in the process. Who inside that building signed off on letting him play and board that flight?

I’m still crying man Howie was really hiding behind the press board like this 😭😭😭

Thank you, Ryan. ❤️

Still over here waiting for @nflnetwork to address the Michael Robinson problem. 🙋🏻‍♀️ Anyone else?

Do I have this right? Jalen Hurts was told to stay awake for 36 hours, play an NFL game and then do a long flight home with a blood clot...then after the flight they didn't check the status of the blood clot until WEDNESDAY? That's the official story?!?!!? Holly Hell.

Jokes and banter aside. I’m calling a cease fire on the Eagles. Wishing a speedy and healthy recovery for Jalen Hurts.

For the first time, @donovanjmcnabb is spitting STRAIGHT FACTS on WIP right now. “How many times do you have to pull a rabbit out of your hat to be called a magician?” 💯 Jalen deserves WAY more respect from everyone who has something to say.

New Mexico is New Mexico, and you lost here three times because you're corrupt and don't care about working people. You should be focused on ending this war, stopping these tariffs, and making things less expensive–not renaming our state.

My heart &🙏🙏🙏goes out to @JalenHurts of the @Eagles for a healthy recovery from his health issues . Don’t know Jalen but wish I did as he sounds like in addition to being a quality @NFL player I hear he is a TERRIFIC person . God please Bless Jalen witb gr8 health in the future.

I can’t believe Howie or Lurie weren’t out there with him.

BREAKING: The NFL has launched an investigation into the #Eagles handling of Jalen Hurts after he was allowed to play and fly with a blood clot. The NFLPA is pushing for severe punishment, with Philadelphia potentially facing the loss of multiple draft picks.

Whole city got your back 💚 #FlyEaglesFly

Shout out to the NFC East fans that were coming into the stream, showing love and saying nice things about Jalen. Rivalries do NOT matter in times like these. I appreciate y’all.

To deny that Russia interfered in our elections and cheated for Trump is stupid. Russia cheated for Trump in 2016, 2020 (but failed due to pandemic's mailed paper ballots) and in 2024 with Elon's help. They're doing it now in our midterms in exchange for Trump lifting sanctions on Russia. #TraitorTrump

FUCK YOU.

Wishing the best to @JalenHurts. While @Eagles fans will be eager for him to return to the field, Jalen has so much more life to be lived after football. Praying for your health, Jalen. I, too, hope to see you back under center next season.

Jalen Hurts left the field with the lead, with seconds remaining against the Jaguars in London, with a makeshift lineup around him, void of starters everywhere, while having blood clots, and having not slept for 36-hours. I mean, that’s some Jordan “flu game” stuff circa the 1997 NBA Finals.

I have covered sports for decades and have heard a lot of things that athletes/clubs go through to get players on the field or court. This is a first.
