Great first year for the Research Update in Neuroscience for Neurosurgeons (#RUNN) course at Asilomar in Pacific Grove, CA, after many years at Woods Hole, MA.  A full house of neurosurgery trainees with great questions. I had the chance to talk about convective delivery for nervous system gene therapy. The residents and fellows in that room are the ones who will carry this from clinical trials into everyday practice. New in @NeurosurgeryCNS: A systematic, image-guided method for convection-enhanced delivery of gene therapy to the bilateral thalami. Using intraoperative MR-imaging in patients with frontotemporal dementia across 3 international centers, the protocol produced consistent, reproducible thalamic coverage (Vd:Vi linear, R²=0.96).
