🇺🇸A Tennessee widow is suing a funeral home for $2.2 million, alleging her late husband’s clothing was returned to her with what appeared to be chunks of brain matter and bodily fluid after his suicide. Sheila McGilvrey says she discovered the material inside a bag containing her husband’s clothes and collapsed after seeing it. The lawsuit accuses Weaver Funeral Home of causing severe emotional distress. The funeral home and McGilvrey declined The Post’s requests for comment.

🇨🇦 About 1 in 20 deaths in Canada now happens through medical assistance in dying (MAID), where a doctor or nurse legally helps a patient end their life. It was 0.4% when MAID became legal in 2016. By 2024 it hit 5%, or 16,499 people. A new chart projects about 5.5% this year. Canada was on track to pass 100,000 total MAID deaths this summer, and plans to open MAID to people whose only condition is mental illness in 2027.

🇺🇸Former Home Improvement star Jonathan Taylor Thomas, 45, was arrested in Los Angeles County after deputies said he appeared intoxicated during a traffic stop. According to the arrest report, Thomas repeatedly approached deputies during a DUI investigation and allegedly kicked a deputy in the stomach when officers tried to detain him. Thomas was booked on obstruction and public intoxication charges. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for DUI.

🇺🇸A 24 year old Lubbock, Texas, woman has pleaded guilty to 11 federal counts of animal crushing following an FBI investigation into videos allegedly showing the abuse of small animals. Investigators said they found 11 files documenting the abuse after police were alerted to a photo involving the suspect and a dog. The woman, Laura Russell, faces up to 77 years in federal prison under the plea agreement. A separate state case involving alleged bestiality remains pending in Lubbock County.

🇬🇧The British Army is training future drone pilots to fly without GPS and automated stabilization, deliberately removing the technology that makes conventional drones easier to control. The harder-to-fly FPV drones require pilots to manually control their movement, building the skills needed when GPS is jammed or unavailable on the battlefield. The approach reflects lessons from Ukraine, where electronic warfare has made GPS-dependent systems increasingly vulnerable. The Army says FPV drones are harder to operate but more resilient to jamming, cheaper and easier to adapt.

A freelance programmer who has spent nearly 30 years visiting Starbucks locations around the world has now visited 20,563 stores across 74 countries. Known as Winter after legally changing his name to a mononym, he began his “Starbucking” mission in 1997, when Starbucks had around 1,500 stores. He estimates the quest has cost him at least $180,000 and he still hopes to reach 25,000 locations.

🇺🇸 The Energy Department has selected 21 geothermal projects for up to $99 million in federal funding.
