Hello, my new followers. Since that random post went viral (well, viral *for me*), I figured I’d introduce myself and give you a chance to unfollow. I’m ordained American Baptist. I’m Wesleyan in most things sans baptism and ecclesiology. I’m evangelical, egalitarian, and hold to a traditional sexual ethic. I’m basically a New Testament theologian. Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox are fellow Christians, and I love talking with serious folks in those sides of the Christian family. My first two degrees were film degrees, so you may get the occasional movie take. I’m married to Allison and we’re mom and dad to a five year old and a soon-to-be-born little one. I pastor in the Greater Los Angeles area. I homebrew. My PhD (ABD) is on the New Testament and Universal Salvation (no, not a universalist). I have too much grey in my beard. I’m also buds with @thechurchsplit and @DPGBehler and @jdpritchett so you can tell my sense of humor is broken. Nice to meet y’all.

Pastors need pastors.

I once made a theology-themed joke and a few folks laughed and one guy didn’t. He said, “that wasn’t very funny.” Me, being a smart aleck: “I’ll answer like twin lambs: that wasn’t funny 2 ewe.” Silence. I still think about that.

Fifteen minutes after listening to a Ryan Mullins lecture and I’m already wondering if Thyme-Neo-Theo-Orthodoxical-Tri-Trinitarianism is true.

On the plus side, Jane slept for 10 minutes and let me grade the rest of the papers and assignments. On the negative side, she’s laughing at my attempts to finish the first draft of my sermon as she coughs, gags, cries, sputters, yells “HEY” and “DA DA DA DA DA HAHAHA” at me from across the room. I played Christmas music and it just made her mad send care packages please

This is really weird. Christ has all the glory already. If He *gets* something it means he didn’t have it.

To be honest, I don’t see the “conversion” wave many predicted after the Charlie Kirk murder. It hasn’t happened in my church and in churches I know. That doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened *at all* It does mean we need to be more sober-minded prophets.
