Today has a chance to become tornado spam across C Kansas. Big closed low across NM. This system has tropical elements to it, very saturated low level profiles with weak MLLRs, but some dry air is punching into the mid levels… With exceptional LL hodos it won’t take much for 🌪️

This map of hazards and impacts from the nor'easter makes it pretty easy to see what part of the state was most affected (hint: downstate). Why the wind damage north of NYC, where gusts were "only" about 45 mph? The winds were from the northeast, which is a rare wind direction.

It appears #Polo has completed an eye wall replacement cycle based on our latest microwave pass. Paired with DMAX, this storm could go even more crazy tonight. Also, look at the overall core of this storm, impressively thick.

Well #Polo is indeed at least a Category 5 from this 155kt flight wind. Pressure below 890mb! Lowest I've ever seen on recon. Top tier storm for sure
