🌍 The
@GTSummit2026 closes in Nairobi, and three days of fruitful deliberation on trust building have culminated in the
#NairobiDeclaration on Trust and Call to Action.
From 21 to 23 October, governments, civil society, the private sector, academia, media and youth gathered under the theme "Weaving Trust: Binding Strands for a Stronger Global Order." Here is what they committed to:
1️⃣ Rebuild trust in public institutions, including a Regulatory Trust Index and stronger regulatory cooperation under the EAC and AfCFTA
2️⃣ Reform multilateral institutions and the global financial architecture to be more representative and accountable
3️⃣ Advance responsive global health governance and equitable access to medical innovations
4️⃣ Strengthen trust for climate action through intergenerational solidarity, finance and technology transfer
5️⃣ Build trust in the digital age, with Africa's voice in AI governance, support for independent journalism and platform transparency
6️⃣ Deepen inclusion and belonging, with meaningful participation of youth, women, persons with disabilities and excluded communities
7️⃣ Create sustainable pathways for youth employment, entrepreneurship and innovation
To deliver on these, leaders agreed to establish a Coalition on Global Trust, an inclusive Nairobi Trust Council hosted by Kenya, and a UN-backed Global Trust Facility, with a Framework for Action and biennial reporting on progress. 🤝
Trust is a global public good, and no single institution, sector or country can rebuild it alone.
Thank you, Kenya, for hosting, and to every participant who helped weave the strands together. ✨
