Whenever Democratic political operatives gather to drink these days, they talk about three things: their chances in the midterms, who will be the nominee in 2028, and if they have read — or are in — “the book.”
The book in question is ‘Nothing Left: Confessions of a Democratic Operative,’ by Evan Barker, a onetime fundraiser who has written something between a tell-all and a cri de coeur about her time inside the Democratic Party. But for many Democrats the book has been candy less because of its call for reshaping politics and more because, while peeling back the curtain on the inner workings of political campaigns, it names (some) names.
“You want to tell the truth, and you want to tell people what happened, but at the same time my intention was never to just burn people needlessly to be vindictive,” Barker tells David Freedlander. “At the same time, it’s like, yeah, I knew that some of the stories in there might hurt some people’s feelings, but sometimes people need to get their feelings hurt.”

"the book" is right.
FINALLY an honest and wise book exposing Democrats and DSA leftists for abandoning the working and middle class, and instead working only for criminals, drug addicts & illegal immigrants.
Nothing Left is making EVERY Dem and DSA re-evaluate themselves. 💯
Nothing Left by Evan Barker (@evanwch) is a really impressive book.
It doesn't get any more relevant with the current Far-Left/DSA takeover of the Democrats. The insider insights/anecdotes are fascinating and sometimes shocking.
It's also an enthralling, deeply personal narrative from someone who is from the epitome of working class, middle America, with an upbringing that is the opposite of "privileged".
Evan Barker emerges as one of the most trusted and wisest voices of the moderate, Center Left, having the clarity and honesty of someone no longer bound by the irrational blindspots and ridiculous demands of party allegiance. @TheDemocrats especially would do very well to heed her wisdom and warnings.
Everyone remotely interested in American politics, the life/career of a political operative, and the plight of the working class should read Nothing Left.
