This is not a scene from a movie. This is October 7. This is 4-year-old Negev and his six-month-old brother, Eshel. The terrorists rocking Eshel in the stroller and holding Negev by the hand had just murdered their mother, Adi. Negev later said: "Bad people came into our house with drills and drilled through the whole house. They wanted to drill Eshel, but Mom wouldn’t let them. She told us to remember that she loved us more than anything in the world. And then she left." The terrorists placed grenades around Adi’s body and left her as bait inside one of the rooms. They tied another grenade to the door handle, so whoever came looking for her would be killed too. Then they filmed a propaganda video to show how "good" they were. They gave wounded Negev water and filmed him saying thank you in Arabic. They had just murdered his mother in front of him. Imagine that. Moments later, they took Negev and Eshel to a neighbor’s house. From there, the terrorists kidnapped all three and headed toward Gaza. On the way, Eshel cried nonstop. His crying bothered the terrorists, who thought he would become a problem later on, so they left all three by the side of the road and continued toward Gaza. They walked back to Kibbutz Holit and survived. The truth cannot be erased. Don't you dare forget.

In one of the GoPro cameras recovered from the bodies of the terrorists, the immediate preparations for the raid can be seen during the night. The terrorist force prepares various equipment and checks the cameras inside a house in Gaza. Just hours later, these would be among the first and most brutal terrorists to set out for the October 7 attack. Most of them would be eliminated on Israeli soil.

A home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza, shortly after the massacre. The medical teams had already removed the bodies. Dozens of bullet holes cover the bedroom door. The terrorists had emptied entire magazines into it before entering. The last room in the video is a children's room inside the home's bomb shelter. The family dog is still lying on one of the children's beds, refusing to move. The blood-stained beds and sheets speak for themselves. They are a reminder of the life that filled this home only hours before.

Three years ago, so many of my people built a sukkah and never lived to take it down after the holiday. When I arrived at the massacre sites, amid the destruction, I found so many sukkahs still standing. They were a silent testimony to the lives that had filled those places just hours earlier - lives that were suddenly cut short. It is a sight I will never forget.

On October 7, Oron Bira, 54, his wife Yasmin, 51, and their daughters Tair, 23, and Tahal, 15, were inside their home in Kibbutz Be’eri. Their son Yehav, 20, a soldier, was staying in another home in the kibbutz. As more than 100 terrorists stormed Be’eri, the family locked themselves inside their safe room. Yasmin messaged her sister Dalia, telling her that terrorists had entered the kibbutz and that she was afraid. At 10:58 a.m., Tair spoke with her brother Yehav from the safe room. Over the phone, he could hear shouting and gunfire. It was the last time he heard from his family. Oron, Yasmin, Tair, and Tahal were murdered. Their beloved dog, Poncho, who had been part of the family for years and was especially loved by Tahal, was also killed. Eleven days later, the bodies of all four were found and identified in an area near the kibbutz. Oron’s brother, Tal, was also murdered at his home in Be’eri. Yehav became the only surviving member of his immediate family. Their home was left devastated. It had been destroyed and looted. The area around the safe room was riddled with bullet holes, and the gunfire was so intense that even the safe-room door was bent. Those who knew Oron and Yasmin’s home remembered how beautiful and carefully kept it had always been. After October 7, almost nothing of that home - or the family who filled it - remained.

Don’t you dare forget what we’re fighting for.

Tears choke me as I read what my Iranian friends are writing - people who fight for their lives every single day against one of the most brutal regimes in the world. I’m so glad Netanyahu chose to speak for them too, to expose the world’s hypocrisy and its refusal to look at the horrors unfolding in Iran - and, above all, to show the Iranian people that they are not alone.
