In terms of innovation, I can’t stress enough how much more interesting football in smaller European leagues is from a tactical/coaching perspective. I guess it’s obvious, but it’s easy to overlook. You don’t listen to U2/Coldplay etc to gauge where rock music is heading.

I'm not here to attack this individual, but lifting like this isn't a way to avoid back pain, but it might be a sign he's already experiencing it and is consciously trying to avoid it. I also wouldn't say this is actually ideal for avoiding back pain overall.
Bro can't risk getting back pain 😭

The completely predictable 180 on Sebastian Berhalter after he moved to Europe has happened. Realistically, this is the same player that played for Vancouver Whitecaps all last season. The difference is that they no longer have an irrational reason to hate him. That's it.
What a FUCKING golazo to make it 4-1 against Peru. Berhalter is on another level since his move to Boro. He’s cooking with grease!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 I’m proud he’s proving me wrong….

In other words, just read Steve Coll's Ghost Wars to get the lowdown on this.
I know some people want "the CIA funded Bin laden/Al-Qaeda against the Soviets" to be true cos it makes the 'blowback' story about 9/11 perfectly symmetrical. It's adding salt and pepper to make a good story. But it's just not true. Didn't happen.

Nope. If anything winning games at the youth level is often one of the worst metrics because oftentimes what wins you games at that level won't win you games at higher levels. Better metrics are more specific to the sport specific actions you're trying to teach your players.
Is winning important when coaching a child’s sports team? My son’s coach ensures all players get game time regardless of capability, this has even cost the team a win on many occasion Is this the right approach I often think

This doesn't necessarily mean what you're doing can't win you games at the youth level. If you have the talent on the field it often does. However, it's still among the most misleading data points and far too many people fail to realize who wins is usually talent based first.

And coaching a fairly distant second. Give Pep Guardiola a bunch of mediocre youth athletes and give a random dad all the genetically gifted early bloomers. Guess who is gonna win the most games? The random dad and probably by a lot. All of the dumb people will credit his coaching

This is true with the exception that this is a uniquely American issue. This issue is well documented across Europe and South America. Many pro academies used to even have height requirements for players. The truth is size and speed are the easiest metrics to see early on and win
The problem starts way before college recruiting. Youth soccer rewards size speed and strength through the youth system. Then at 18 colleges go overseas looking for players who actually understand how to play the game. Our youth system doesn't teach kids the game.

The nuanced position however is size, strength and speed matter, especially if we are talking about creating professional level players. There is simply no such thing as pro soccer players that are small, slow and weak. It doesn't exist.

Of course technical skills and soccer IQ should be prioritized over physical attributes, but physical qualities cannot be ignored and my advice to smaller and slower players will always be the same: Get stronger and faster, so you're no longer slow and weak.

MLS is one of the top attended leagues on 🌎 but do go off
European soccer has already established itself in the US and will continue to grow, while closed league American soccer will struggle and remain largely irrelevant.

I could win the bundesliga with an average MLS team. Not because of the talent level but because of the tactical schooling players receive in the first division in the USA. Just look at Bayern Munich. They do a ton of basic things right and decoded this league in no time.

keep saying it but i really need to lock into MLS. I think this is where the next generation of USA talent is gonna come from with the huge boom of youth academies. We’re gonna start seeing true top talents bred in the MLS.

Negative rage bait material does well on social media. If you make a headline that admits the reality which is MLS teams were disappointing in one Leagues Cup edition you'd only get 100 views on YouTube.

I'd argue that the big issue is this Leagues Cup was mutually not taken quite as seriously by MLS or Liga MX due to it being right after the World Cup. Most teams played heavily rotated lineups and not their first teams. Most of the top MLS teams got knocked out.

Liga MX 's top teams did better and they were just better than the MLS teams that made the QFs.
