North Appalachians, NY
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks. By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time. Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI. x.com/tokufxug/status/211418…

I’ve never experienced a “creamy mouth feel”, but usually when I’m out in the woods I like to drink Folgers crystals
This is the coolest thing ever for 45 year old conservatives

One of the only existing groves of American Chestnut trees is scheduled to be destroyed next month to make room for a datacenter. I made an entire video about what this tree meant and the efforts to bring it back that have lasted decades. Consumption knows nothing of sacrament.

I would like to congratulate the engineers at @Ford for making what should be a 10 minute battery change into an hour + job. Thanks guys, great work 👍

It’s kind of a bummer that most tech fabrics aren’t made in entirely in the United States. The stuff that I do use in the things I sell, which are usually BERRY Amendment compliant components, and are supposed to be 100% made in USA, are usually pretty limited in variety since it’s for military applications. On personal projects I’ll occasionally use non-domestic materials if I can’t find a domestically made alternative, but I hesitate to sell stuff that uses non-American made materials, unless someone specifically asks for something that absolutely has to be made with foreign components, and I am always transparent about that stuff.

I remember in the early days of North Appalachian Supply, I made a small batch of the first gen padded slings. I put them up on the website only to realize a few days later that the fabric and thread were of an unknown origin. At the time I was under the assumption that “Made in the USA” was the same as “Assembled in the USA”, and that using domestically made components was just extra credit. The webbing and hardware on those first slings were American made, but the fabric, thread, and padding material were unknown. Silly me, so what I did was change the listing to say that the components were of an unknown origin, and put them on a discount to just get rid of them. I eventually just took them off the website as I moved on to using better materials.

Masculinity is a quality that as a man you develop naturally. Not something you get through buying Masculinity™️ branded products. Not something a corporation decides the parameters of. Not something dictated by some softhands sitting at a desk with social media management job. If you break your back everyday on a job site for not enough money, you’re more of a man that someone that needs a $50 bottle of coffee to have their masculinity validated. Drink Folgers.
