we often get asked how Nowa actually proves what happened after a trade executes. so this is how the actual mechanism works.
every transaction on Nowa executes on a Cosmos EVM execution layer, so standard Ethereum smart contracts and tooling work unmodified. the Sequencer runs as a decentralized set of validators from day one, using CometBFT consensus to produce blocks at a dynamic 3-4 second interval, giving soft finality and an instant UI update the moment you act.
behind that, a centralized Prover, run by the core team at this stage, batches exactly 128 transactions and generates a Groth16 zk-SNARK proof using the gnark library on the BN254 curve, taking roughly 1.7 seconds to generate. that proof, plus around 4KB of calldata, gets submitted to Ethereum's BatchRegistry contract.
that's hard finality, typically 2-5 minutes, the point where Ethereum has mined the block and the state is mathematically final. withdrawals to Ethereum are only claimable after this step, currently verified on Ethereum's Sepolia testnet while Nowa builds toward mainnet.
two systems, two timeframes, one gives you speed, the second gives you proof.
Nowa's own documentation is upfront about where things stand: we're currently in Devnet, so this is the mechanism as built, running ahead of Testnet and Mainnet.
