I do not like Matt LaFleur.
It's been a long time brewing, but I just don't anymore. He's a disappointing face of the franchise.
Oh, he's got plenty of ire for screaming at his players or refs, but he tolerates absurd mediocrity from his coaching staff and lets down the fanbase by putting on a demure disaffected act like rivals don't matter.
If he were at least winning these games, it'd be different. But he's often barely even competitive against rivals anymore. The Holier-than-Thou persona was one thing when you were beating the brakes off the North. Now it just makes you look like you're not winning BECAUSE you don't care.
Keep your comments to yourself, Keyboard Warrior who's about to be in my mentions. I already know you're ready to type out some long-winded BS with your nose up in the air.
I used to like LaFleur a ton, but he's worn out his welcome with me and with much of the fanbase. The only thing that would change that is winning...lots and lots of winning. Argue with a wall.
Why doesn't Matt LaFleur ever fire back at the Bears or Ben Johnson?
"Because this game is about the players, so we'll keep it about the players," LaFleur says. "I'm not the one out there playing, so I think that's always been my mentality, and we're going to keep it about those guys.
"I love the rivalry. It's awesome. It's great. It's intense; you can feel it on gameday and throughout the course of the week. They're the defending North champions. What a great opportunity and a great challenge for us, in our home stadium, to play against the defending champs."
