Energy markets adjusted quickly – on both sides. Extra supply from outside the Gulf and inventory drawdowns filled about half the gap left by lost Gulf oil exports. Lower demand – led by China – did much of the rest.

Our Interim Economic Outlook is out. Its title: Weathering Successive Shocks.   The global economy has absorbed the energy shock from the conflict in the Middle East better than expected, but it remains exposed.   Global growth: 2.9% in 2026, 3.0% in 2027, after 3.4% in 2025. 🧵
