Our team is working to understand problems facing older adults and caregivers during the pandemic. How might we make things better for them? Better support systems, improving mental/physical health, access to services, educating about tech? Do you have a story or idea to share?

Areawide Aging is the OKC non profit that specializes in Older Adults. United Way can also put you in touch with several agencies if you're looking for broader services.

Thanks for those recommendations. Our team is hosting an informal co-design session tomorrow afternoon from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Would you be interested in participating? If so, send us a DM with your contact and we can provide more details. ^zn

Connect with your local Agency on Aging to see how you can plug in to (and support) the current services being provided to older adults

👍 we will be reaching out to some non-profits and other agencies. Any recommendations? ^zn

@OKCiLab - respite care available with flexible options for caregiver, tech inside of nursing homes so families could communicate/see their loved ones, free/affordable grocery/prescription/meal delivery for home bound citizens.

Thank you for taking time to provide your insights and ideas about the many issues facing our residents.
Thanks again for all of this info. Would you be willing to attend a virtual co-design workgroup on Friday? If so, give us a follow so we can DM you more info. ^zn
Thanks for the feedback! Safe transportation is important. Where do you think your clients would go if they could, what areas? What are some tech barriers that education could help break down? One more thing... tell us more about how support systems would help.

This has been really helpful, Matt. We appreciate the time you took to share these insights. Don't hesitate to let us know anything else you'd wish to add and thank you for all you do for the residents of OKC with Parkinson's disease and their caregivers and family. ^zn

We do have one more question about your comments on using online platforms. Where were the pain points and UI breakdowns when it came to digital platforms? Launching, logging on, unmuting?

My mom lives with me. She broke her hip a few months before the pandemic so I was already helping her with things. I'm also a single mom to an 11yo. I'm just really really burnt out. I don't know what could help.
1
We're sorry to hear that and hope your mom is on the mend. Being a caregiver is hard outside of a pandemic...add the challenges of COVID-19. Are there things that are more challenging because of the virus? Doc appts, tech, focusing on your mental health, transportation?

So good to know man! Haven’t heard about this yet, but that’s awesome!!

So from this thread it is about access to information and knowing the services are available. @RooSimpson is there anything else besides free testing that you believe would help?

Never worked in health care, but I’ve invested a lot into tech for my business. The goal was never to get more done, but to make work more efficient so my employees have more free time. In elderly care that free time is giving the patients more one on one. Trust me, they like it
1
Mind sharing more? To take advantage of more focused one on one, people need to have an understanding and access to the tools to connect. How might we help people use and take advantage of those tech efficiencies created and implemented by organizations?

We're getting the @cityofokc innovation band back together thanks to @CPI_foundation and @BHcityleaders. Working through how we build the Innovation Lab in a new virtual space. A lot has changed since we paused our work more than five months ago.

Thanks for this resource and feedback. We've bookmarked some references online and we'll be sure to take a look at the method. ^zn
Are there any problems you think we should explore as we reboot the program?
