Statement by Oromo Intellectuals on Ethiopia's Political Crisis and the Need for an Inclusive Transition We, the undersigned Oromo public intellectuals, have viewed with grave concern the deepening political crisis in Ethiopia and its devastating consequences for the country's peoples. The country remains mired in a civil war with multiple fronts, widespread violence, political instability, and an increasingly fractured political landscape. Given these circumstances, a comprehensive, inclusive, and broad-based political transition is urgently needed to avert further bloodshed and the potential disintegration of the state. In this respect, we view the emergence of the newly formed Alliance and the Oromo Liberation Front-Oromo Liberation Army’s (OLF-OLA) participation in it as a significant first step toward finding a way out of a protracted crisis. The crisis now engulfing the entire country began in Oromia eight years ago. The regime entered Oromia with an open declaration of genocide from the Chaffee, the regional state legislature, against the Oromo people, the social base of the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), rather than solely against the organization itself. This intent was captured in a statement made by the head of the Oromia Prosperity Party (PP), who declared: "We do not bother to catch the fish (the OLA); we will rather drain the sea (the Oromo)." The consequences of this doctrine were severe: large numbers of Oromo civilians were killed, maimed, displaced, and subjected to horrors never before seen in Oromo history. Similar patterns of collective punishment and militarized responses were later extended to other peoples of the country, one after another.  The fragmentation of opposition forces afforded the regime an undeserved opportunity to consolidate its position and further deepen the crisis. For far too long, Ethiopia's opposition political landscape has been characterized by cycles of violence, mutual suspicion, and division. The regime has repeatedly converted legitimate political grievances into horizontal conflicts between communities, deepening mistrust and social tensions into enduring ethnic antagonisms. The strategy shifted attention away from the central crisis of governance and made collective political solutions more difficult to achieve. Whatever differences exist regarding the country's past and future, the peoples of Ethiopia must not be made enemies of one another while their common political grievances remain unresolved and their shared future uncertain. The struggle for justice and freedom must not become a struggle between communities. Instead, it should create conditions in which all peoples defend their rights, hold perpetrators of violence accountable, and build a political order in which no community is subjected to domination or collective punishment. Historical grievances and political differences cannot simply be ignored. They must be acknowledged and addressed through credible political mechanisms. At the same time, they should not become insurmountable obstacles to cooperation when the country's circumstances demand a common response. Political maturity requires recognizing that a future founded on mutual respect, shared responsibility, and peaceful engagement is preferable to continued conflict, fragmentation, and mistrust. While the crisis affects all peoples of Ethiopia, its origins and consequences in Oromia require particular attention. Oromo political aspirations and the rights of the Oromo people must remain central to any political process. Their realization, however, need not be pursued in isolation from the legitimate aspirations of other peoples. A political arrangement that protects the rights, dignity, and agency of all communities offers a more sustainable basis for addressing the country's interconnected crises. The need for cooperation extends beyond opposing the present trajectory of violence unleashed by the Prosperity Party regime. The weakening or removal of an existing political order does not automatically produce democracy, peace, or justice. Without a credible transitional arrangement, the country risks reproducing the same patterns of exclusion, political domination, and conflict under a different configuration of power. It must also create a process by which the peoples of Ethiopia can freely determine their political future, without coercion or the imposition of predetermined outcomes. To avoid repeating past mistakes, the upcoming transition should bring together all relevant political stakeholders, including armed and unarmed opposition groups, civil society, and representatives of Ethiopia's diverse nations and nationalities. Together, these forces can establish a credible, inclusive, and broad-based transitional process, grounded in mutual understanding, respect for distinct political identities and legitimate national aspirations, and the protection of civilians. Only such a process can address the root causes of the conflicts and lay the foundation for lasting peace, justice, democratic governance, and the right to self-determination We also urge Oromo intellectuals, civic actors, and political stakeholders to approach the evolving political landscape with seriousness, political maturity, and a clear understanding of the historical realities confronting our people. Legitimate questions concerning emerging political alignments, their objectives, commitments, and long-term implications must be examined openly and critically. However, reflexive rejection driven by partisan interests, historical antagonisms, or political mistrust risks foreclosing opportunities for meaningful political engagement. In this regard, we encourage the Alliance and its constituent organizations to commit to deepening mutual understanding and developing credible mechanisms for resolving disagreements. Ethiopia's political forces face a fundamental choice: continue a fragmented struggle that leaves communities vulnerable to further violence or create a common political opening through which their differences can be addressed and their aspirations pursued. Cooperation does not require forgetting history. It requires confronting history honestly and refusing to remain its prisoners. The future must be built on the recognition that the security, freedom, and dignity of our peoples are interconnected. The political forces that chose cooperation over continued conflict should translate that recognition into meaningful action and a credible transition toward a more just, democratic, and accountable political order. Statement issued by the Ethiopian Peoples’ Forces Alliance for Survival (Alliance for Survival) Ever since Ethiopia fell into the hands of Prosperity’s personalist, dictatorial and genocidal regime, war, genocide, mass slaughter and absolute poverty have become its defining features. It has become a country in which law and order have collapsed; millions have fallen into severe poverty and been displaced; hope for its citizens has vanished; and the government declares one destructive war after another. Dictatorial rule has been imposed upon it, and it has moved beyond state failure to face the danger of disintegration. It has also become a country pushed to the margins of regional and international political, economic and diplomatic affairs, deprived of its voice and influence. The regime rests on a distorted narrative and an anti-people state structure. It is at odds with reason and truth, equality and the participation of the peoples, justice and freedom, the dignity of the people and the sovereignty of the country. Because it does not pursue peaceful and constructive approaches, it has neither the will nor the capacity to halt the war consuming the country and its peoples; bring lasting peace; guarantee citizens’ rights and freedoms; establish law and order; or end the peoples’ suffering and torment, poverty and backwardness. To achieve its sinister objectives, this dictatorial and genocidal regime has become a mercenary of foreign powers, selling out the interests of the peoples and turning the country into a subservient and dependent state. Accordingly, we, the peoples’ forces concerned with the survival of Ethiopia’s peoples, bear the historic responsibility of overthrowing this regime, safeguarding the survival of all nations, nationalities and peoples, and opening a new chapter. The historic mission and first objective of the peoples’ forces is to defend ourselves collectively against the devastating war declared upon us; remove Prosperity’s personalist and dictatorial system, which has endangered the survival of our peoples and the security of the country; and bring about the establishment of an inclusive transitional government guided by a transitional charter. In doing so, we seek to open a new transitional chapter in which the human and democratic rights of all Ethiopians can be guaranteed in full, without diminution. The principal objectives of the transitional period that begins after the regime’s fall will be: 1. To safeguard the survival of the peoples and the security of the country; stop all wars; guarantee human and democratic rights; maintain peace and security; stabilize the social and economic crisis; improve relations with neighboring countries; and restore the country’s regional and international standing. 2. In the interests of peace in the country and the continued survival of its peoples, to conduct an honest, trustworthy, fully inclusive and participatory popular and constitutional dialogue, through which decisive questions concerning the peoples and the country will be resolved with the direct participation of the peoples. Accordingly, we, the peoples’ forces listed below, have agreed to coordinate our popular and organizational capacities to remove Prosperity’s personalist, dictatorial and genocidal regime; guarantee the survival and security of our peoples; bring about the establishment of an inclusive transitional government; and open a new democratic transitional chapter. We have also agreed to resolve our differences peacefully, on the basis of the freely expressed will of our peoples, principles and a lawful order. These forces are: 1. Amhara Fano National Movement (AFMN) 2. Oromo Liberation Army (OLF–OLA). 3. Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF). 4. Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF). 5. Afar Revolutionary Democratic Unity Front (Ugugumo) 6. Benishangul Peoples’ Liberation Movement. 7. Gumuz Peoples’ Democratic Movement. We have established a joint alliance called the Ethiopian Peoples’ Forces Alliance for Survival, known in short as the Alliance for Survival. We express our profound joy at having achieved, after much effort and many difficulties, this great and decisive alliance that the Ethiopian people have eagerly awaited. On this occasion, we wish to make the following appeals: 1. To all Ethiopians, civic associations and political organizations: Recognizing that the regime is a force determined to destroy the very existence of all the peoples of Ethiopia, we respectfully call upon Ethiopian popular forces, civic associations and political organizations that accept the Alliance’s objectives and approach to struggle to become partners in our struggle for survival. 2. To the regime’s armed forces and their leadership: Recognizing that the regime you serve poses an existential threat to the peoples of Ethiopia, and that it is anti-people, anti-peace, anti-democratic and genocidal, we call upon you, before it is too late, to join and become partners in the struggle to save your people and your country. 3. To neighboring countries, African countries and the international community: Recognizing that the genocidal regime in power is alienated from the people; that it has neither the capacity nor the will to establish peace and stability in Ethiopia or the Horn of Africa; and that it is a regime in its twilight, nearing removal from power through the people’s struggle, we call upon you to stand with the peoples, justice and democracy. ከኢትዮጵያ ሕዝባዊ ኃይሎች ትብብር ለሕልውና (ትብብር ለሕልውና) የተሰጠ መግለጫ ኢትዮጵያ በብልጽግና ግለሰባዊ አምባገነናዊ ዘረ-ፈጅ አገዛዝ እጅ ከወደቀችበት ጊዜ ጀምሮ ዋነኛ መገለጫዋ፡ ጦርነት፣ የዘር ፍጅትና እልቂት እንዲሁም ፍፁም ድህነት ሆነዋል። ሀገሪቱ ሕግና ሥርዓት የፈረሰባት፣ ሚሊየኖች የከፋ ድህነት ውስጥ የወደቁባትና የተፈናቀሉባት፣ ለዜጎቿ የሚሆን ተስፋ የጠፋባት፣ ልዩ ልዩ መንግሥታዊ ሀገር አጥፊ ጦርነቶች የሚታወጁባት፣ አምባገነናዊ አገዛዝ የተጫነባት እና እንደሀገር ከወደቀ ሀገረ-መንግስትነት አልፋ የመፍረስ አደጋ የተጋረጠባት እንዲሁም በቀጠናውና በዓለም አቀፍ ደረጃም በፖለቲካዊ፣ በኢኮኖሚዊ እና በዲፕሎማሲያዊ ጉዳዮች ወደጠርዝ የተገፋችና ተሰሚነቷን ያጣች ሀገር ሆናለች። አገዛዙ በተዛባ ትርክትና በፀረ-ሕዝብ መንግስታዊ መዋቅር ላይ የቆመ፣ ከምክንያትና ከእውነት፣ ከእኩልነትና ከሕዝቦች አሳታፊነት፣ ከፍትሕና ከነጻነት፣ ከሕዝብ ክብርና ከሀገር ሉዓላዊነት ጋር የተጣላ ሰላማዊና ገንቢ መንገዶችን የማይከተል ስለሆነ ሀገሪቱንና ሕዝቦቿን እየበላ ያለውን ጦርነት የመግታት፣ ዘላቂ ሰላም የማምጣት፣ የዜጎችን መብትና ነጻነት የማረጋገጥ፣ ሕግና ሥርዓትን የማስፈን፣ የሕዝቦችን መከራና ሰቆቃ እንዲሁም ድህነትንና ኋላቀርነትን የማስቆም ፍላጎትና አቅም የለውም። ይህ አምባገነናዊ ዘረ-ፈጅ አገዛዝ እኩይ ዓላማውን ለማሳካት ለውጭ ኃይላት ቅጥረኛ በመሆን የሕዝቦችን ጥቅም በመሸጥ ሀገሪቱን ተላላኪና ጥገኛ ሀገር አድርጓት ይገኛል። በመሆኑም የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝቦች ሕልውና የሚገደን ሕዝባዊ ኃይሎች ይሄንን አገዛዝ በመገርሰስ የሕዝቦችን ሕልውና የማስከበርና አዲስ ስርዓት የማቋቋም ታሪካዊ ኃላፊነት ወድቆብናል። የሕዝባዊ ኃይሎች ታሪካዊ ተልዕኮና የመጀመሪያ ግብም የታወጀብንን የከፋ ጦርነት በጋራ በመከላከል፣ የሕዝቦቻችን ሕልውናና የሀገሪቱን ደኅንነት አደጋ ውስጥ የከተተውን የብልጽግና ግለሰባዊ አምባገነናዊ ሥርዓት በማስወገድ በሽግግር ቻርተር የሚመራ አካታች የሽግግር መንግሥት እንዲመሰረት በማድረግ የሁሉም ኢትዮጵያዊያንን ሰብአዊና ዲሞክራሲያዊ መብቶች ሳይሸራረፉ እንዲረጋገጡ የሚያስችል አዲስ ከአገዛዙ ውድቀት በኋላ የሚከፈተው የሽግግር ምዕራፍ ዋና ዓላማም፦ 1) የህዝቦችን ሕልውናና የሀገርን ደኅንነት መታደግ፣ ሁሉንም ጦርነቶች ማስቆም፣ ሰብአዊና ዲሞክራሲያዊ መብቶች ማረጋገጥ፣ ሰላምና ፀጥታን ማስጠበቅ፣ ማሕበራዊና ኢኮኖሚያዊ ቀውስን ማረጋጋት፣ ከጎረቤት ሀገራት ጋር ያለውን ግንኙነት ማሻሻልና የሀገሪቱን ቀጠናዊና ዓለም አቀፋዊ ቁመና ማስተካከል፤ 2) ለሀገሪቱ ሰላምና ለሕዝቦች ቀጣይ ሕልውና ሲባል ሀቀኛ፣ ታማኝ፣ ሁሉንም ያካተተና ያሳተፈ ሕዝባዊና ሕገ መንግሥታዊ ውይይት (Constitutional Dialogue) በማድረግ ወሳኝ ህዝባዊና ሀገራዊ ጥያቄዎችን በሕዝቦች ቀጥተኛ ተሳትፎ መመለስ ይሆናል። በመሆኑም የብልጽግናን ግለሰባዊ አምባገነናዊ ዘረ-ፈጅ አገዛዝን ለማስወገድ፣ የሕዝቦቻችንን ሕልውናና ደኅንነት ለማረጋገጥ፣ አካታች የሽግግር መንግሥት እንዲመሰረት ለማድረግ ህዝባዊ ድርጅታዊ አቅሞቻችንን አስተባብረን አዲስ ዴሞክራሲያዊ የሽግግር ምዕራፍ ለመክፈት እና በመካከላችን ያሉ ልዩነቶችን በሕዝቦቻችን ነጻ ፍላጎት፣ በመርህና በሕጋዊ ሥርዓት ተመስርቶ በሰላማዊ መንገድ ለመፍታት በመስማማት ከታች ሥማችን የተዘረዘረው ኃይሎች ማለትም፦ 1. የአማራ ፋኖ ብሔራዊ ንቅናቄ (አፋብን) 2. የኦሮሞ ነጻነት ሰራዊት (ኦነግ-ኦነሰ) 3. ህዝባዊ ወያነ ሓርነት ትግራይ (ህወሓት) 4. የኦጋዴን ሕዝብ ነጻነት ግንባር (ኦብነግ) 5. የአፋር ብሔራዊ አንድነት አብዮታዊ ግንባር (ኡጉጉሞ) 6. የቤኒሻንጉል ሕዝቦች ነጻነት ንቅናቄ (ቤህነን) 7. የጉምዝ ሕዝቦች ዴሞክራሲያዊ ንቅናቄ (ጉህዴን) የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝባዊ ኃይሎች ትብብር ለሕልውና (በአጭሩ ሲጠቀስ፡ ትብብር ለሕልውና) የተባለ የጋራ ትብብር መስርተናል። ከብዙ ጥረትና ውጣ ውረድ በኋላ የኢትዮዽያ ህዝብ በጉጉት ሲጠብቀው ለነበረው ለዚህ ታላቅና ወሳኝ ትብብር በመብቃታችን የተሰማን ደስታ ከፍተኛ መሆኑን እየገለጽን የሚከተሉትን ጥሪዎች በዚህ አጋጣሚ ለማስተላለፍ እንወዳለን። 1. ለሁሉም ኢትዮጵያዊያን፣ ሲቪክ ማህበራትና የፖለቲካ ድርጅቶች፦ አገዛዙ የሁሉንም የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝቦች ሕልውና ለማጥፋት ቆርጦ የተነሳ ኃይል መሆኑን በመረዳት የትብብሩን ዓላማና የትግል መንገድ የምትቀበሉ ኢትዮጵያዊ ሕዝባዊ ኃይሎች፣ ሲቪክ ማህበራትና የፖለቲካ ድርጅቶች የሕልውና ትግላችን አጋር አካል እንድትሆኑ ጥሪያችንን በአክብሮት እናቀርባለን። 2. ለአገዛዙ ታጣቂ ኃይሎችና አመራሮች፦ የምታገለግሉት አገዛዝ በኢትዮጵያ ህዝቦች ላይ የሕልውና አደጋ የጋረጠ፣ ፀረ-ሕዝብ፣ ፀረ-ሰላም፣ ፀረ-ዴሞክራሲ እና ዘረ-ፈጅ መሆኑን ተረድታችሁ ጊዜው ሳይረፍድ ህዝባችሁንና ሀገራችሁን ለማዳን የሚካሄደው ትግል አጋርና አካል እንድትሆኑ ጥሪያችንን እናቀርባለን፤ 3. ለጎረቤት ሀገራት፣ ለአፍሪካ ሀገራትና ለዓለም አቀፉ ማህበረሰብ፦ በስልጣን ላይ የሚገኘው ዘረ-ፈጅ አገዛዝ ከህዝብ የተነጠለ፣ በኢትዮጵያም ሆነ በአፍሪካ ቀንድ ሰላምና መረጋጋትን የማስፈን አቅምም ሆነ ፍላጐት የሌለው፣ በህዝብ ትግል ከስልጣን ሊወገድም የተቃረበ የመሸበት አገዛዝ መሆኑን በመረዳት ከሕዝቦች፣ ከፍትሕና ከዴሞክራሲ ጎን እንድትቆሙ ጥሪ እናቀርባለን። የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝባዊ ኃይሎች ትብብር ለሕልውና (ትብብር ለሕልውና) #Oromia #Ethiopia

ወቅታዊ ጉዳዮችን አስመልክቶ ከኦሮሞ ነጻነት ሰራዊት የተሰጠ መግለጫ (የኦነግ-ኦነሰ መግለጫ) ወለጋ፡ በሀገሪቱ ከፍተኛ ወታደራዊ ኃይል ከተሰማራባቸው አካባቢዎች አንዱ የሆነው ወለጋ፣ ባለፉት ስምንት ዓመታት በአገዛዙ የሚደገፉ መደበኛ እና መደበኛ ያልሆኑ ኃይሎች በተለያዩ አደረጃጀቶች ሲንቀሳቀሱበት ቆይቷል። ከእነዚህም መካከል በአማራ ስም እንደሚንቀሳቀስ እና በኦሮሞ ሲቪሎች ላይ በሚፈጽመው ጥቃት የሚታወቅ አንድ አነስተኛ የታጠቀ ቡድን ይገኝበታል። ይህ ቡድን በመጀመሪያ የተቋቋመው፣ የሰለጠነው፣ የታጠቀው እና የተሰማራው በአገዛዙ ሲሆን፣ ዓላማውም ከህወሓት ኃይል (TDF) እና ከኦሮሞ ነፃነት ሠራዊት (OLA) ጋር በሚደረገው ጦርነት ወቅት የOLA እንቅስቃሴ ለመግታት እንዲያግዝ ነበር። በአማራ ክልል ግጭት ከተቀሰቀሰ በኋላ ነው የቡድኑ አባላት ከአገዛዙ የሚሊሻ መዋቅር በይፋ የተለዩት። ከይፋ መዋቅሩ ሲለዩ አገዛዙ አካሄዱን ቀየረ። ቡድኑን በቀጥታ የሚሊሻው አካል አድርጎ ከማሰማራት፣ በአማራ ክልል እየተካሄደ ባለው ጦርነት ላይ የኦሮሞን ህዝብ ለማነሳሳት እንደ መሳሪያ መጠቀም ጀመረ። ትክክለኛው አድራጊ አካል ማንነት ሳይረጋገጥ ጭምር፣ በኦሮሞ ሲቪሎች ላይ የሚፈጸሙ ጭፍጨፋዎችን በሙሉ በዚህ ቡድን ስም አጠናክሮ ገፋበት። እንዲህ ባሉ ጭካኔ የተሞላባቸው ድርጊቶች የሚፈጠረውን የህዝብ ቁጣ የፖለቲካ ጥቅም የተረዳው አገዛዙ፣ ይህንን ኃይል በህይወት የማቆየት ስልታዊ ፍላጎቱ እየጠነከረ መጣ። ይህንንም ለማስቻል፣ መከላከያ ሠራዊት ወይም የኦሮሚያ ኃይሎች ቡድኑን “ለመዋጋት” እንዲንቀሳቀሱ ከታዘዙ በኃላ፣ መሳሪያዎችን እና ሌሎች ሀብቶችን ትተው እንዲወጡ ይታዘዙ ነበር። እንዲሁም፣ ቡድኑ ገንዘብ እና መሳሪያ እንዲዘርፍ የሚያስችሉ መረጃ የማሾለክ ስራ ሲሰራቆይቷል። ቡድኑ በድርጊቱ እና በሚጠቀምበት ስም ጭምር በግልጽ በያዘው የፀረ-ኦሮሞ አቋም፣ ከአገዛዙ ቀጣይነት ያለው ቀጥተኛ እና ቀጥተኛ ያልሆነ ድጋፍ ሳይኖር በኦሮሞ ህዝብ መካከል መቆየቱ ፈጽሞ የማይቻለው ነው። በተቃዋሚ ኃይሎች መካከል የትብብር ውይይቶች መነሳት ሲጀምሩም፣ አገዛዙ ተመሳሳይ ስልቱን አጠናክሮ ቀጠለ። አለመተማመንን ለማስፋት፣ በማህበረሰቦች መካከል ውጥረትን ለማባባስ እና በተቃዋሚ ኃይሎች መካከል ሊኖር የሚችልን ትብብርን አስቸጋሪ ለማድረግ ተደጋጋሚ የጭካኔ ድርጊቶች ተፈጸሙ። ከኣባይ ማዶ ያሉ የአማራ ኃይሎች፣ የራሳቸውን ቋንቋ የሚናገር፣ የታጠቀ ቡድን ተመልክተው፣ ተጽዕኖአቸውን ከአማራ ክልል ውጭ አሰፋን ለማለት እንደ መልካም አጋጣሚ ተጠቀሙበት እንጂ እርምጃው የሚያስከትለውን የረጅም ጊዜ የፖለቲካ ውጤት ከግምት ውስጥ አላስገቡም። ከእንደዚህ ዓይነት ቡድን ጋር በመተባበር፣ ሊገኝ ከሚችለው የአጭር ጊዜ ወታደራዊ ጥቅም እጅግ የላቀ የፖለቲካ ዋጋ ሊያስከፍል የሚችል አደጋ ያለው በመሆኑ የአማራ ሃይሎች ይህን ቡድን በተመለከተ የሚያደርጉትን ኃላፊነት ከጎደለው የሚዲያ ንግግሮች እንዲታቀቡ እና ከዚህ ቡድን ጋር ያላቸውን ግንኙንት በግልጽ እንድያቋርጡ ጥሪ እናቀርባለን። ጽምዶ ፦ OLA በጽምዶ ውስጥ ምንም ዓይነት ተሳትፎ የለውም፤ የዚህ አካልም አይደለም። ነገር ግን OLAን ያካተተው ከምዕራብ እስከ ምስራቅ እና ከደቡብ እስከ ሰሜን የሚዘልቁ የተቃዋሚ ኃይሎች ትብብር ለህልውና ምስረታ በመጨረሻ ምዕራፍ ላይ ይገኛል። እየተፈጠረ ያለው ትብብር በሁለት መሠረታዊ ጉዳዮች ላይ ያተኮረ ነው። አንደኛ፣ የተቃዋሚ ህዝባዊ ኃይሎች እርስ በርስ የሚያደርጉትን ሽኩቻ አቁመው፣ ጥረታቸውን የሁሉም ህዝቦች የጥፋት ምንጭ ወደሆነው አገዛዝ አቅጣጫ እንዲያተኩሩ ነው። ሁለተኛ፣ የአገሪቱ ህዝብ የፖለቲካ ጥያቄዎቹን በቀጥታ በመሳተፍ የሚፈታበትን ሰፊ መሰረት ያለው የሽግግር መድረክ መፍጠር ነው። የህዝባዊ ሃይላት አፋጣኝ ኃላፊነት ከሰማይ በታች ያሉ ሁሉም የህዝቦች ጥያቄዎች በእነርሱ ቀጥተኛ ተሳትፎ የሚፈቱበትን የፖለቲካ እና የደህንነት ዐውድ መፍጠር ነው። በኦሮሚያ እየተካሄደ ያለው የሲቪል ህዝብ የማስታጠቅ ዘመቻ: OLA በሚንቀሳቀስባቸው የኦሮሚያ አካባቢዎች ሁሉ፣ አብይ አህመድ ሲቪሎችን የማስታጠቅ እና የማሰባሰብ እርምጃ እንዲወሰድ ማዘዙ አሁን በስፋት የታወቀ ጉዳይ ሆኗል። ግን አዲስ ፖሊሲ አይደለም። ይህ አሰራር ቢያንስ ከ2021  ጀምሮ የነበረ ሲሆን፣ አገዛዙ “የአማራ ሲቪሎችን ለመጠበቅ” በሚል ሰበብ ተመሳሳይ ዲርጊቶችን ሲፈጽም ቆይቷል። ዋናው ጉዳይ አብይ አህመድ በመደበኛ የጸጥታ ኃይሎች ላይ ብቻ መተማመን እንደማይችል አምኖ መቀበሉ አይደለም። ያ እውነታ ለዓመታት ግልጽ ነበር። ከአምስት ዓመታት በፊት ጀምሮ፣ በአገዛዙ ድጋፍ የሚንቀሳቀሱ መደበኛ ያልሆኑ ታጣቂ ቡድኖች በኦሮሚያ ማፍላቱ ይህንን አምኖ የመቀበሉን በተግባር መስክረው አልፏል። አሁን ያለው አጣዳፊ ተግባር፣ አገዛዙ በከፍተኛ ስጋት ለመደበቂያነት እየፈለገ ካለው የኦሮሞ ህዝብ በማያሻማ መልኩ የመነጠል ነው። አብይ አህመድ ከኦሮሞ ህዝብ ጀርባ እንዲደበቅ መፈቀድ የለበትም። ስለዚህ፣ ሁሉም ባለድርሻ አካላት የልዩነቶች መነሻ የሆኑ የመከፋፈያ አጀንዳዎችን ለይቶ ወደ ጎን መተው እና በሁሉም ንግግሮቻቸው እና ተግባሮቻቸው አገዛዙን ከህዝቡ በጥንቃቄ የመለየት ሃላፊነት ይኖርባቸዋል። የኦነግ፡ኦነሳ ከፍተኛ ዕዝ ሴፕቴምበር 17, 2026 #Oromia #Ethiopia

Regarding Recent Developments (OLF-OLA Press Release) Wollega: As one of the most militarily saturated regions in the country, Wollega has, over the past eight years, endured successive configurations of regime-backed regular and irregular forces. Among them is a small armed group claiming to operate in the name of the Amhara, a group notorious for attacks against Oromo civilians. The group was initially trained, armed, and deployed directly by the regime, to help counter the OLA during the war against the TDF and the OLA. It was only after the conflict erupted in the Amhara region that elements of the group broke formally from their positions within the regime’s militia structures. The regime subsequently pivoted. Rather than deploying the group directly as part of its militia, it began using the group as an instrument to mobilize Oromo sentiment against the war in the Amhara region—particularly by attributing massacres of Oromo civilians to this group, regardless of which actors were actually responsible. Having witnessed the political utility of public anger generated by such atrocities, the regime had a strategic interest in keeping the force alive. The pattern was visible in repeated encounters in which ENDF or Oromia forces would ostensibly move to “confront” the group, only to withdraw under circumstances that left weapons and other resources behind. Intelligence was also shared in ways that enabled the group to rob money and weapons. Given the group’s openly anti-Oromo posture—reflected both in its conduct and the name it carries— its sustained presence among the Oromo is virtually impossible without the regime’s continued direct or indirect support. When discussions of cooperation among opposition forces first began to surface, the regime intensified the same play book. A recurring cycle of atrocities followed, to deepen mistrust, inflame communal tensions, and make any prospective cooperation among opposition actors politically more difficult. Amhara forces across the river saw in this small, armed faction that spoke their language and jumped on it as an opportunity to extend influence beyond the Amhara region. They failed to consider the long-term political consequences of such a gamble. The association with such a faction of risk producing political costs that far exceed any conceivable short-term military advantage. We therefore urge Amhara forces to cease irresponsible media briefings concerning this group and to make their position unequivocal by dissociating themselves from it. Tsimdo: The OLA is neither involved in, nor is not a component of Tsimdo. However, an alliance involving opposition forces stretching from west to east and from south to north is taking shape. The emerging cooperation is centered on two fundamental matters. First, opposition forces agree to end horizontal confrontations and redirect their efforts toward the source of destruction affecting all of us. Second, an agreement to create a broad-based transitional political opening through which the people of the country can address their political demands through direct participation. It is not an agreement on substantive political questions. It is a procedural consensus. No party has received a mandate to negotiate, settle, or predetermine the fundamental political questions of our people. Those questions belong to the people themselves and must ultimately be addressed through their direct participation. The immediate responsibility of opposition forces is therefore to create the political and security conditions in which such participation becomes possible. Ongoing civilian mobilization in Oromia: It is now public knowledge that, across the areas of Oromia where the OLA operates, Abiy Ahmed has directed the arming and mobilization of civilians. This is not a new policy. The practice dates back to at least 2021, when the regime began advancing similar arrangements under the pretext of “protecting Amhara civilians.” The central issue, therefore, should not be whether the PP has finally acknowledged that it cannot indefinitely rely on conventional forces. That reality has been apparent for years. The proliferation of regime-backed irregular armed actors across Oromia is evidence of this admission. The urgent task now is to separate the regime from the Oromo people behind whom it desperately seeks cover.  Abiy Ahmed should not be allowed to hide behind the Oromo. Therefore, all stakeholders should refrain from falling into traps of the regime every time fault lines are used and carefully separate the regime from the people in all engagements. Ilfinesh was a living archive of Oromo memory, a voice that refused to be outlawed, a woman who turned melody into testimony. Through her music, she carried the soil of rural Oromia and the fire of a people's longing for dignity. She sang of joy, yes—but also of erasure, and of the refusal to be erased. For that, she was detained. Multiple times. She did not stop. In her final years, too frail to stand, she was carried to gatherings—not as a relic, but as a living flame. Her presence alone could transform a room. Her words cut deeper still: “OLA is a sphinx; no one can defeat it.” She was movement embodied. She was Oromo womanhood: keeper of language, weaver of memory, guardian of a culture that has outlasted every attempt to bury it. Her passing follows the loss of two other towering figures of Oromo music and cultural history: Ali Birra, a father of modern Oromo music, and Hacaaluu Hundeessaa, an inheritor who carried that artistic and cultural legacy to a new generation. These losses remind us that mourning alone is not enough. Their songs, recordings, photographs, interviews, manuscripts, and stories constitute an invaluable part of Oromo collective memory and must be systematically preserved. We therefore call upon Oromo universities, cultural institutions, scholars, artists, community organizations and familiesto work together toward establishing a permanent Oromo Music, Art and Cultural Archiveto collect, digitize, document, study, and preserve this heritage for future generations. Abiy Ahmed’s "National Monologue" is yet Another Political Crime (OLF-OLA Press Release) In our presser of March 23, 2026, we warned of the incendiary cards in Abiy Ahmed's perennial deception. The latest ruse is ‘constitutional reform’ through the national monologue. A few additional points on this one man show: 1. There is consensus among key actors across the country that this national monologue is nothing more than a sterile soliloquy—a deranged mirror-gazing between a Abiy Ahmed and his own reflection, devoid of authentic opposition, independent voices, or legitimate representative of the people. 2. Even if the platform was credibly constructed, there can never be a true national dialogue under Abiy Ahmed. Whatever final outcomes of such platform, it would land upon a Abiy’s desk, subject to the whims of one man. If the last eight bitter years have taught us anything, it’s that Abiy Ahmed cannot be trusted with any community's aspirations or demands. His repertoire is pathological manipulation, serving no agenda but his own fragile grip on power. 3. The public grievances, questions and demands he parades on the national monologue are mere camouflage for twin objectives: an uncontested path toward a two-term presidency and the balkanisation of Oromia, Amhara, and other regional states into pliable fiefdoms. It is a desperate cartography of division, designed to fracture collective will and dilute the rising tide of unified resistance against his genocidal rule. 4. The fundamental structural questions in the country demand a genuinely inclusive and credible dialogue, one that can only flourish in a post-war environment where the conditions for truth and reconciliation are permitted to take root. 5.The commissioners and other willing accomplices who lend their names to this political crime, know full well this is a one-party spectacle, incapable of redressing any deep seated grievance.
