The 24th Regional Meeting of National Authorities of States Parties in Asia brought together 62 delegates representing 42 States Parties in Seoul, from 1–3 September. Over three days, participants exchanged experiences, priorities and good practices in implementing the Convention, with discussions covering: 🔹 emerging technologies and the chemical industry 🔹 industry inspections 🔹 national implementing legislation 🔹 the role of customs in CWC implementation 🔹 regional and sub-regional cooperation The OPCW’s Regional Meetings of National Authorities provide an annual platform for countries to address shared implementation challenges, strengthen cooperation and build networks across the region.

22 emergency responders from across Asia completed the OPCW's Integrated Advanced Course & Exercise on Assistance and Protection in Malaysia. Through five complex field exercises, participants strengthened their skills in responding to chemical incidents, while exploring AI-enabled emergency management, drones and advanced detection technologies. Malaysia remains a key OPCW partner in delivering assistance and protection training. Yesterday, the OPCW proudly welcomed a new group of inspectors into the Technical Secretariat. These newly appointed inspectors made it through a rigorous and meticulous selection process, and over the next six months, they will undergo comprehensive training, from generic groundwork to highly specialised modules, preparing them for deployment on missions worldwide. Speaking at the welcoming ceremony, Deputy Director-General @M_Kaapanda congratulated the group and highlighted what lies ahead: "You will be part of a highly professional international organisation significantly contributing to a world free of chemical weapons," she told the new inspectors, adding that their diverse professional backgrounds and openness to learning will be key assets as they take on their new roles as international civil servants.
