OAMF statement on Acton’s FALSE attack AD claiming Vivek ran an “Alzheimer’s pump & dump sceme”: Vivek’s main business model was developing drugs abandoned by big pharma. His parent company, Riovant, had subsidiary companies that worked on various drugs: Myovant (endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and prostate cancer), Urovant (overactive bladder), and Immunovant (immunological conditions) All of these had great treatment success. ✅THE TRUTH✅ Axovant developed an Alzheimer's drug that failed the trial. What Acton purposefully does NOT say is that 99% of ALL Alzheimer's drug trials have FAILED. In fact, the vast majority of experimental drugs never make it to approval. Industry research estimates roughly 90% of drug development programs fail to reach approval. Succeed or fail, clinical trials are one of the most important parts of modern medicine. For adults and children with serious illnesses, a clinical trial can mean access to a treatment that could save or improve life. They are also vital in helping us make informed decisions on what medical products may or may not be right for us or our children. ❌THE LIE❌ Acton claimed Vivek “peddled a drug to Alzheimer's patients that didn't work" and "sold stock in the company just before the drug failed a clinical trial, walking away a billionaire." This is a LIE and is trackable from public filings and disclosures. (See comment section for graphic and links. Roivant owned 75,000,000 Axovant shares before the June 2015 IPO and still had ALL of them in 2018.) Vivek’s parent company Roivant, NEVER SOLD a single share of Axovant at any time BEFORE the Alzheimer's trial FAILED, and neither did Vivek. Vivek took the loss and moved forward to develop drugs that HAVE helped adults and children live better lives. 🔶THE CONTRAST🔶 While Vivek was analyzing clinical data and working towards developing monoclonal antibodies and other treatments that would save lives from Covid, Acton worked with the Board of Pharmacy in March of 2020 to SUPRESS ACCESS to Hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID patients. Her approach led to the pharmacy board going on to restrict other drugs like Ivermectin, monoclonal antibodies, and Budesonide which were withheld from patients. Ohioans DIED. Off-label treatment denials continue to this day, which is why OAMF has continued to fight for the last 4 years to pass the Jeff, Dave & Angie Right 2 Try Act. 🇺🇸STATEMENT🇺🇸 OAMF understands the science, the risks, and the years of research and funding required to develop an approved treatment. The reason I’ve been working hard with our legislative leaders on a plan to suspend the Ohio fuel tax is the same as why I asked them to put Issue 3 on the ballot this November: our actions speak louder than words.
