One habit every midfielder should learn: scan before the ball gets to you.
As a midfielder, you donโt always have enough time to receive the ball, look around, think, and then decide what to do.
Sometimes pressure is already coming before the ball reaches your feet.
Thatโs why you should constantly scan.
Look over your shoulders. Where is the pressure coming from? Where are your teammates? Where is the free space? What will your next move be?
Try to have an idea of what you want to do before receiving the ball.
It could be a first-time pass, a quick turn, carrying the ball into space or simply playing it back.
The quicker you see the game, the quicker you can play it.
Your feet play the ball, but your eyes should have already done the work.
