Most people know $TAO. Very few can answer this: What do I actually do after I buy it? Start here, not with the tech. Did you buy TAO to catch the upside, or to back a specific AI project? Those are two different goals. They need two different playbooks.

If you just want TAO to go up, the path is short. Buy it. Hold it. Sell it if the network gets more valuable. You do not need to touch any subnet. A lot of people do exactly this. They’re not buying a writing tool or an image tool. They’re betting the whole decentralized AI network will be worth more later.

If you want to use TAO, then look at subnets. TAO is the ticket.
Subnets are the shops. Some write text.
Some make images.
Some rent compute.
Some store data.
Some make predictions.
Some do search, voice, or code. Now you’re not only trading a ticker.
You’re choosing which AI shop to fund.

So a normal holder only has 4 uses: 1. Leave TAO on an exchange and trade the price 2. Move it to your own wallet 3. Stake it on the main network for a simpler reward 4. Put it into one subnet and back that project If you only want upside, step 1 is enough.
The rest is for people who want to participate.

Step 1: buy. Buy TAO on an exchange that actually supports it.
If you’re only trading, you can leave it there for now. If you plan to withdraw later: make sure the exchange can send TAO check the correct network test with a tiny amount first Wrong network, and the coins may never arrive.

You only need a wallet if you want self-custody or want to back a subnet. Common beginner options: ▪️TAO.com ▪️a wallet that can connect to taostats / taomarketcap When you create it: 1. write down the seed phrase 2. don’t screenshot it 3.never give it to anyone Lose the phrase, lose the coins.

How to withdraw: 1.copy your TAO address 2.withdraw from the exchange 3. select the TAO network 4. send a small test first 5. move the rest after it arrives After that, you actually hold TAO.
If it still sits on the exchange, the platform is just keeping a balance for you.

Once it’s in your wallet, you usually get 2 paths. Path A: stake on the main network
Best if you don’t know which project to pick.
Simpler rewards.
Not risk-free. Path B: put TAO into one subnet
Best if you understand what that project sells.
Your TAO becomes a share of that subnet.
If it works, you may gain.
If it fails, you may lose.

Don’t mix these two bets. TAO going up does not mean your subnet wins.
One subnet doing well does not mean TAO pumps tomorrow. Hold TAO = bet on the whole network.
Back a subnet = bet on one AI business inside it. A subnet is not automatically safer or more profitable than just holding TAO.

Before you back a subnet, look at the service. Text: writing, editing, answers
 Images: generation and recognition
 Compute: renting GPUs
 Data: collecting, cleaning, storage
 Prediction: prices, events, outcomes
Tools: search, code, voice, detection Force one sentence:
“Who does this help, and with what?”
If you can’t say it, don’t deposit.

If you still want in, ask 4 things: 1. What service does it sell? 2.Are there real users, or only crypto chatter? 3. Is the team still shipping? 4.Can a non-technical person explain why it exists? Start small.
There may be fees, slippage, and waiting time.
Rewards are not a guarantee your principal is safe.

The beginner split: If you want $TAO upside:
buy, hold, judge the whole network, accept volatility. If you want to use TAO:
 buy
set up a wallet
test a small withdrawal
study what the subnet sells
use the main network if you’re unsure
back one subnet with a small amount only after you understand it One line:
Holding TAO is a bet on decentralized AI.
Backing a subnet is a bet on one shop inside it.
