The Nelson Mandela Foundation, in partnership with One Young World, is pleased to announce Juan Manuel Santos, former President of Colombia, 2016 Nobel Peace Laureate and Chair of The Elders, as the speaker for the 24th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture.​ President Santos led Colombia through a historic peace process that brought an end to more than five decades of armed conflict.​ Today, he chairs The Elders, the group of independent global leaders founded by Nelson Mandela in 2007 to work for peace, human rights and justice.​ Under the theme “When is silence complicity?”, this year’s Lecture will explore the difficult line between non-interference and our responsibility to act in the face of injustice and conflict.​ It asks what responsibility looks like in such a moment, for individuals, leaders and nations.​ The 24th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture takes place on 6 November 2026 in Cape Town, in partnership with One Young World. ​ Details on attendance and the livestream will follow.​ Read the full statement here: bit.ly/4cZcKlZ #NMAL2026 #MandelaLecture #GlobalLeadership #JuanManuelSantos
