On September 21, Chief Commissioner Patricia DeGuire, accompanied by protégé, Ope Olojede, biomedical science student at TMU and researcher at MaRS Discovery, were honoured to join Ontario's Emerging Leaders Reception.
The OHRC celebrates and congratulates the next generation of leaders who are driving positive change and helping to build an Ontario where human rights are protected, diversity is valued, and every individual can thrive with dignity and belonging.
Thank you to The Honourable Edith Dumont for including the OHRC’s leader, and for her leadership in bringing together an inspiring gathering of #emergingleaders, fostering meaningful connections and celebrating individuals who are shaping our province’s future.
The OHRC is committed to advancing the human rights of all Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQ+ people, and to working toward a future where safety, dignity, and justice are realities for all of us.
This Learning Disabilities Awareness Month, the OHRC recognizes that too many students with learning disabilities continue face barriers to education. These barriers can limit access to academic success, support services, and inclusive learning environments.
Orange Shirt Day, led by Indigenous communities, invites reflection and dialogue on the enduring impacts of the residential school system.
It honours the truth carried by Survivors and their stories, and the message at the heart of this day: every child matters.
Commemorate the day by learning the history and legacy of residential schools. The Orange Shirt Society offers resources to learn more, and ways to support truth and reconciliation: 🔗 link in bio.
