An absolutely massive move on housing:
@NYCHousing is demolishing its offices at 100 Gold St., an outdated building from the 1960s, and turning it into *4,000* units of housing. 1,000 units will be permanently affordable.
This is more new housing than some entire cities build in a year.
Project will also include a new senior center, a 40k sq ft gym open to the public, and lots of public realm improvements around the site. HPD will get a new home in a separate, modern building.
This is the kind of big, bold project we need much more of.

At 100 Gold, we're turning an aging office building into 4,000 new homes, including 1,000 permanently affordable, an older adult center, and public open space – with zero funding from the City. Plus, thousands of City workers will be able to move into more dignified office spaces.
This project shows what's possible when we reimagine outdated City-owned property to deliver for New Yorkers. Thanks to the @NYCEDC team, GFP, and our agency partners for their work to advance the project and begin environmental review, taking us one step closer to reality!

Incredible example of SEQRA reform already getting results: nuns in an Albany suburb are redeveloping part of their campus to build 238 new homes, and their lawyer writes the town citing the new state law to walk thru every way it clearly meets the criteria and must be approved.
